Great article in today's T-P
"Let's all slow our roll on incoming LSU freshman running back Leonard Fournette" ... Ron Higgins
Sorry, can't get the link on mobile

Worth the time - a good read.

"When Herschel Walker enrolled at Georgia in 1980 ....
When Emmitt Smith headed to Florida in 1987 ....
When Adrian Peterson reported to Oklahoma in 2004 ....

Until he shreds SEC defenses weekly like he's playing flag football, perhaps we should all inhale a deep breath of Fournette's perspective."

Conversation this afternoon with a former successful Tiger QB, "Until any of them step on the field against SEC speed & talent, ya really don't know".

Fournette will be our starting QB and run the option with himself

walker ran for 1616 yards 15 TD
Smith ran for 1341 yards 13 TD
Peterson ran for 1925 yards 15 TD

I would be ok with 1200 10 TD

I'll be shocked in Fournette gets 1000 yards. He's going to be splitting carries with McGee and Hilliard, and won't likely start getting bulk of carries until the tail end of the season.

If we didn't have some reliable backs other than LF, then I would expect him to have at least 1,000 yards and somewhere between 10-15 TD's.

With Magee and Hillard in the backfield along with him, I expect about 500 yards rushing and 6 TD's.

see honestly I would be disappointed because he is supposed to be that much better... thus earning the starting job before mid season and running wild

Freshman attempts/carries:
Walker 274
Smith 229
Peterson 339 !!

With Magee & Hilliard, doubt his carries will come close to that group. And please don't overlook our other freshman RB, Williams. This kid is capable of 30 a game given the opportunity.

This staff is smarter than that pos in SC that ran Lattimore in the ground with 40 carries a game as a freshman. Cost that youngster a lot.

Can't help but look ahead. We add a 230 lb + /4.5 FB in 2015 to the mix.

The reason hill was better than magee and Hillard was the combination of size, speed and vision. Fournette is very comparable to hill in this since. Me personally would not expect a 1500 yard year but 1100 could be reached with 10 TDs.

I read that earlier today and the only people saying crap that crazy are the media.

Nobody said he'd be any of those guys in year one. I've seen crap several times thinking most LSU fans believe that he doesn't run for 1800 yards or 200 yards games, then he didn't meet expectations.

Ok, I have a hope of 1100 yards, is that an expectation? No. I expect him to be really good, but crossing the 1k barrier depends on his carries.

It's ridiculous that people think he is hyped up anymore than the #1 overall recruit every year. Did we not get sick of hearing about Nkemdiche? Clowney? DGB?

They start the best back out of high school since Peterson, once in a decade, once in a generation crap, then when he gets put in top 25 or top 10 lists, everybody is like, slow your roll playa. The media always does this. Creates the monster, feeds the monster, then tries to hide their hand.

fournette is better than magee and hilliard already and he hasn't even taken a college snap yet in a real game.

that's how good he is. all the naysayers will have their jaws on the ground after seeing this kid play.

it's like having cecil collins talent and kevin faulks will and character.

fournette is les miles dream running back. he didn't even sign a RB in the 2013 class because fournette wanted to know that LSU was committed.

sit back and enjoy the ride.

The people saying crap like 500-600 yards are ridiculous. In 2011, we had four different backs with at least 330 yards and 7 TDs. Three of them had at least 530 yards.

Hilliard has done nothing since his freshman year to show that he is more than just a goal line RB. Magee will definitely get his, but LF starts over him halfway through the season.

I agree with him. The expectations for him are ridiculous and he hasn't even stepped on the field yet. Tiger fans are going to cannibalize this dude if he doesn't go all-world his freshman year.

1400 yards and 16 TDs.

The kid is a fricking stud! I don't why people are so afraid to have expectations of him.

Mostly because they're afraid of being let down, since not every hyped freshman will pan out. I do see Fournette as a player who will do some great things here, but he'll make some mistakes too. We just have to take the good with the bad.
