Sad to hear.

I think depression gets written off a lot because the term is used too trivially—I.e. someone might say they’re depressed if they drop their ice cream cone on the ground. The reality is that depression is a deadly illness. It’s been estimated that 50 percent of suicides are accomplished by persons who are stricken with depression.

I’m glad Joe is having the courage to speak out about the affliction and hope he’s getting the medical care he needs.

Yeah it's a term that gets thrown around jokingly a lot. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Kudos to Joseph for sharing, and I hope he is/gets better.

His album is on Spotify if anyone cares to listen. It's a jazz blues sound.

shite, man, I wish depression was something that was easier to understand. How do you help someone when what they're going through makes no sense to you whatsoever?

I mean he admits being abused during the formative years of his life. I think most that have gone through what he's been through would have some psychiatric issues later in life.

I was referring to clinical depression. Of course, anyone would have some issues. I look at him and see someone that has overcome his past through years of hard work and dedication. I see someone living out their dream. I see someone that has a family that loves him. I also think most people see that and it's hard to understand how he can get to the point where he doesn't see that and wants to end his own life. That is what I meant when I said its hard to understand.

I had a step cousin growing up that dealt with the same thing. Beautiful, smart, funny, everyone loved her except her for some reason and she had several attempts at suicide. Hard to understand.

Glad to hear he is battling his demons. Didn't he and a Cornerback get into a fight while he was at LSU?
