I would gladly have traded some of his gaudy numbers for a trip to the Dance....I'm not sure he would have been willing to do that.
Why don't you ask the other guys and now ex-coaching staff? They share in the culpability for that outcome.

Because they weren't the face of the program when he was here....he was.
I'm not in any way saying he's the only one culpable. But he was the star and everyone took their cues from him.
JJ was also a schitty coach who did him absolutely no favors. I'm simply saying he could have taken more of a leadership role on the team.....and he didn't....preferring to get his and then remain aloof.
To me, that's not the trademark of a great Tiger but to each his own.

This alone tells me you either weren't paying attention or have a terrible memory. He was and is an outstanding facilitator and passer. That's actually his greatest skill to go with his outstanding athleticism for a guy his size. I actually wish he would have been more assertive in going to the basket and trying to "get his". But that wasn't and isn't his game. I still see no reason why the kid should be shat on every time his name comes up. It's just a pathetic look for our fans.

You're basically making a case in support of Simmons here.

Maybe they should've been more competent at playing the game of basketball and executing a gameplan, Simmons fulfilled his end of the bargain to the highest level, the teammates did not and, as I explained earlier, there were other factors that contributed to the season's outcome, it's way more layered than you prefer it to be.

So performing the way he did on a nightly basis and leading by his example on the court isn't "taking more of a leadership role?" Not every player's the same from a charisma standpoint baw, Ben does what he does like Kareem did what he did, not talk much just play maybe others should grow a brain about it. How in any way does your premise make any logical sense?

The fact that Simmons was a first-team All-American for the Tigers his freshman season makes these fans' negative reaction to him all the more perplexing and dumbfounding

I don't feel any LSU connection with Ben Simmons, other than he was physically on the team for one year. He may be a future NBA Hall of Fame athlete, but whatever success he has in his career will be entirely NBA.
I get more excited watching Tremont Waters on the team this year than Ben Simmons when he played.

Tremont is so reminiscent of Isaiah Thomas in both height and production at the collegiate level, it's scary

It doesn't for anyone dickriding Simmons and his accomplishments here.
You've got a narrative to perpetuate...great go for it. I've already stated I personally witnessed him take plays off and appear apathetic. That's all I need to know about BS.
As someone earlier stated, he only came here because his GF was coaching here or whatever.
We won a few more games because of him....but no SEC Championship, no NCAAT appearance, no NIT.
I'm looking at the team accomplishment that year which was basically nothing.
06 says the dude has contacted/supported former and present players at LSU. If that's the case, great.
But I'm not going to sit here and pretend that year was a banner year because it was far from it.

I don’t dislike Ben Simmons. I just don’t give a shite about anything he does. He was on campus les than six months and never gave a shite about being here.

He was a great productive player, I’m just not emotionally invested in him enough (not at all actually) to watch a Sixers game. Didn’t really impact the basketball program other than increasing publicity for a year. I guess that’s good

southernelite, these blue chip players that Ben makes easier for Wade to recruit don't get into all the ins and outs of Ben's time here. They just CONSTANTLY HEAR THAT HE PLAYED AT LSU, and that alone is priceless. Whether they admit it or not, these high schoolers idolize these nba stars, and it makes it cool for them to follow in their footsteps. This ain't chinese arithmetic man!!
