LSU has played Tulane twice, ULL, Southern Miss, and Southeastern.

Yeah, because LSU has no room on their team for that kind of pitcher.

No offense to Nicholson, but he didn't have the makeup of becoming an SEC starter. Of course he had his bright spots in midweek games...again that's not what he was recruited to LSU for.

I'm happy to see him succeeding but Nicholson transfering was the best for both parties.

Sounds like a problem with coaching to me.

Sounds like it was a competition problem considering he's doing much better vs. shite teams than he was vs. SEC teams.

Let's break down who he's started against this year and his numbers...

Nicholls State (RPI 163) - 7.0 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 7 K, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 1 WP
Southern (RPI 222) - 4.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 K, 1 BB, 2 HBP
UC-Santa Barbara (RPI 126) - 5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 K, 1 BB
UL-Monroe (RPI 171) - 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 5 K, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 2 WP
Arkansas State (RPI 129) - 3.1 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 K, 3 BB, 1 HBP
Rice (RPI 20) - 6.0 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, 4 K, 4 BB, 1 HBP
McNeese St (RPI 132) - 7.0 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 2 K, 1 BB, 2 HBP
McNeese St (RPI 132) - 7.2 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 5 K, 1 BB [Yes, played them twice]
UA-Little Rock (RPI 170) - 5.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 0 K, 2 BB, 1 HBP

So he's played 1 team all year worth a crap

Are Arkansas-Little Rock and Middle Tennessee State better than these teams?

The Sun Belt is the 6th best conference in baseball according to RPI. Playing in the SBC is much different than playing Mississippi Valley, Sacred Heart, McNeese, Northwestern, Alcorn State. The Sun Belt produces a lot of good players. Florida International is #33, Troy is #40, Florida Atlantic is #45. LSU doesn't play those kinds of teams midweek.

Please see my above post for the teams Nicholson has played all year, except for 1, they are all terrible.

It is a combo of like 75% of him dominating cause belt not sec caliber( not even close)

and 25% tony robe coaching him up and helping him live up to his potential

players transferring from big time ball to belt have always dominated, hell like 3--4 years ago Troy was awesome cause the had 3 sec transfers( still got beat in sub regional)

Funny you mention this because 1/3 of Nicholson's starts this year have been against a combination of these very teams.

I understand LSU fans get really defensive when other teams fans come post on the board, but maybe the guy just got better. Ben Alsup was pretty terrible then last year he showed much improvement. Hopefully he continues to pitch well and leads UL to the tourney. I like watching other Louisiana teams when they arent in LSU's bracket.

Or maybe his competition just got much worse. Which judging by my breakdown, it did.
