He's older than that if he played then!

It's very obvious that the Man passed away in the mid-1990s

To this day there is a guy that wears a Rusty Jackson jersey in the S end zone.

He also kicked the extra point that beat Ole Miss in 1972, 17-16.
I was a freshman in Tiger Band at that game. What a finish!
I met Rusty Jackson in the mid-1980s at my place of work in BR. He was a salesman for some type of chemical company, I believe. He looked very unhealthy at that time, but I don't know if that was a contributing factor to his death.

Yep, the radio call of the final two plays and the PAT are forever etched in my memory. #OneSecondBlues I bought it on iTunes years ago and play it during my class once a year (I teach in Oxford, MS).

Kicked and at the time record 52 yarder vs ole miss at end of first half for 3-0 lead in 1974. Won game 24-0. Record 52 held until 1985 I think.

Did not know that.
His younger brother Steve punted and played DB in the mid-70s I think.

Mine too. Listened to that game on the radio with my entire family. You couldn't hear Ferguson's final call because the crowd reaction was thunderous.

In his defense, this thread seems to be about someone that died recently, not in 1997. It’s not “very obvious” unless you click the link.

Steve picked up where Rusty left off. He was a punter and place kicker. Steve followed Rusty in the same way that the Ferguson brothers followed one another in consecutive years.
