If any new posters in the future ask what we mean by an "off-season" thread, just link them to the last few pages of this thread. A debate about the ranking of a player 10 years ago that didn't pan out to a damn thing for LSU or one of it's biggest rivals. You seriously can't make this stuff up.

I remember seeing Benton playing against Zachary in high school. He was big, he was tall, he played QB and receiver in that game. He was unstoppable, a damn beast. Every bit a 4*

I was still in a fog from '07-'09, but I do remember being extremely excited about Benton and how big and strong he was.

5* on Scout coming out of Bastrop I believe
He got lazy plus had some injuries that hurt him going forward
He was all LSU though until the Randle/Benton deal on NSD. I kinda feel bad for him
He's definitely one of those who had it all but screwed it up

ETA: Benton was so highly sought after in 2009 that he had a total of 1 offer.

Already have. It's a hit piece criticizing Les Miles for choosing the number 8 player in the nation over a 3*(low 4* just to appease you) with academic issues.
