Hodges' best interest is to stay in school. He'll look loyal and even if he has a down year, people will forgive him for it. His draft stock will be high and he get points for character. He'd be insane to leave.

If he had an insane year at LSU he'd be looking better. Everyone knows if you play defense you want to be in the SEC.

Penn State has put some of the best young LB's into the NFL recently (Sean Lee, Navarro Bowman, Tamba Hali, Paul Poszluzny) and Hodges has said he wants to be the next in line.

Learning a new system in a month before his senior year? Good luck with that. I wouldn't consider transferring if I was a senior (well, except for the kicker - the playbook's pretty irrelevant for you).

Well, i guess that settles it. Some kids play for themselves, some play for their school.

He's obviously the latter. nothing wrong with that.

Unless your coming to LSU where the kicker is pretty important on fakes.

Not true at all LINK

He says

If this "we are a big family" dude wants a chnace to be drafted in the top 5 rounds, he better consider transfering to LSU. Linebacker is our weakspot on D.

Just wait until Mr. All in the Family and the rest of the players realize they will not be on TV, will get zero attention even if their stats are super, will not win a game, and will wallow in obscurity perhaps to be signed as an NFL free agent for a year before moving onto to some non-athletic endeavor. I think the really good players will re-think the 'going down with the ship" mentality.

Why wouldn't a great LB be drafted early just because their team doesn't go to a post season game? Surely pro-scouts don't think a great player can't remain at Penn St.!

I realize from our (the fans) perspective getting him might sound good, and it might be, but maybe we already have the LB corps shored up with great talent. Could be the young guys are going to kick some arse... and how would we know? We wouldn't!!! But the coaches may know we are set at LB. I am wishfully hoping we get some stud play at that position this year from the young guys!

Point is I was hopeful before the Penn St. disaster! And since we aren't getting this guy lets not START assuming the young guys aren't going to play big.

Except that's not how it is in the real world.

Though I admire him for staying at PSU....this would mean NOTHING to NFL teams watching him play at LSU.

Why would he not want to come here, play in the SEC, TV games (exposure), and get a Natty ring?
