OK.............

You will stop at NOTHING to try and prove that AJ is the man..... There is ALOT more to being a good SEC QB than just stats..............

I think our passing game will do just enough to make us dangerous in every game we play. Schedule is light with a rebuilding Auburn and MSST early in the season, drawing USCe and Florida from the East… and no real OOC threats. 12-0 is a real possibility. 11-1 is likely.

Good luck with this bud.... It WON'T happen with either QB................

We were 8-5 last year and we could have easily been 6-7. And that's with the #1 D and #4 rushing attack in the SEC.

It goes both ways, we could have been 11-2. One hail Mary, one penalty, one fake fg could have got us 3 more wins.

You're talking about nearly a 20 percent improvement in completion percentage and over 100 percent improvement YPG.

Here's what we need:
1) Consistency - the 250 yard game against Wisconsin was great, but we absolutely cannot have games where we throw for less than 100 yards. If we can get about 150-180 passing yards a game, we'll be golden.

2) Accuracy - Not sure where you got the 20 percent marker. If our QB is able to avoid wild fluctuations and consistently put up the numbers we had from the position in our 7 wins, I'm looking at about a 5% increase in completions (the equivalent of one pass a game) as minimal improvement.

3) Dual-Threat Ability - Notice I said 200 total yards, not necessary passing. The advantage of having the QBs on our roster is their mobility, including the ability to extend plays and to pick up 1st downs if and when our receivers are covered.

4) Maturation - also: Knowledge - the ability to execute the offense and make sound decisions; movement in the pocket, checking down to secondary options, throwing the ball away instead of forcing the pass or taking a sack.

And why should we settle for such unnecessary strain of getting by on 50% lol.. Those wins won't always be there.

Les' philosophy of keeping the games close to try to win it at the back end hinders this team greatly from truly achieving belief and successs on offense. I like to see the more talented qb play with confidence and this team ball out on offense. And even be able to overcome mistakes with the quickness.. Play your best athletes early and often and jump out to big leads early! Let's Geaux!

And in which years has Miles made this a priority?

2006, 2007, 2011, 2013
or
2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2014?

Aside from 2010, that last group has something pretty obvious in common.

When you say compete I feel you mean try to win 9-10 games ,when I say compete that means win championship. For us to compete in my eyes we have to have immense improvement in qb play

1. I'm assuming you mean "compete"
2. yeah. We know we can win without good QB play. The problem is this:
We can't win it all without great play from all of our units.
Overall Defense was already #1 in SEC
Special teams.. were.. at least.. OK..
Running game was pretty good.
We probably have the best group of receivers we've had in a long time.
it'd be good if the D-Line improved in pressure..
and QB play HAS to improve.

QB is the only area that HAS to improve if we want to win anything noteworthy.
Hell.. If you take someone average.. like Mauk from Missouri - we'd be SEC west champs (last year at least).

Thanks to the defense and special teams... Remember that LSU had ZERO 1st downs in the 1st half of the SECCG. And could NOT cross the 50 yard line in the most important game he ever started.... But OK JJ was great.............

2012: Zach Mettenberger - 10 wins 2013: Zach Mettenberger - 10 wins

Finally a pro-style QB that can run the offense Miles desires... A drop back passer and a great running game....

You really are one annoying arse hole. The guy I replied to said we could have been 6-7. We weren't. So I just threw out hypothetics like he did. Besides if we do win those 2 other games we are playing in the seccg and wouldn't have played Notre Dame. So yeah we could have ended 10-4. Being hypothetical.

No one is saying he is great.
quote:

. Tied for fifth in LSU history for career TD passes with 34, equaling Jamie Howard (1992-95) ... Is sixth in LSU history in career passing yards (4,733), sixth in completion percentage (58.7), sixth in career completions (398) and sixth in attempts (678) ... Accounted for 46 TDs during his career - 34 passing, 12 rushing ... Rushed for 1,018 yards and 12 touchdowns during his LSU career ... The 1,018 rushing yards ranks first among quarterbacks in school history and the 12 rushing TDs is fifth by a QB ... Holds the LSU single-season rushing record for a quarterback with 450 yards during the 2010 season.

You don't accomplish the above stats at a top 15 alltime program and suck your entire career.

Yes it does. Like in 07, we could have lost 4 games or win every game. That's not what happened though. But yeah our fans can only see the negative side of things.
