That's the thing about having an offensive minded guru for a HC, you don't need a top tier OC.

The same as every head coach-- (1) to win games and titles; (2) to run a clean program and recruit well; and (3) promote the LSU brand.

No one cares what skills a coach brings, if those 3 are met.

I'm ok with giving him credit for wins as long as people here also give him full blame for the losses.

this is the main problem with LSU fans; too much credit is given to the HC when we win and too much blame when we lose. one frickin' game.

football is a TEAM sport. yes, the HC is the top team member and he sets the tone and makes decisions on most of the important stuff. but assistant coaches and players make up the single most important element in any one game.

But then again, some coaches are consistently successful-- so HC is vital and as important. If not, how do you explain huge turn around when a coach is fired and the next coach makes then a contender? And I'm not talking about LSU-- let's say Bama for the sake of argument, pre and post Saban.

If you think Les Miles is anywhere near the realm of Jimbo Fisher as far as offensive minds go you are beyond help.

Since Coach O has taken over the head coaching job of a dysfunctional LSU team, the team has taken a step toward the top of the SEC. His only loss is to Alabama and they only scored a measly 10 points. How many coaches can make that boast? None!!!

He excels as a defensive line coach who can delevop a 3 or 4 star lineman into an elite SEC lineman.

He brings focus and continuity to this team and let's every player know what is expected of them. LSU has developed into a focused, hungry team that knows what it takes to be a champion.

Coach O communicates well with his staff and trust that they will get the job done (without interfering).

Most importantly, Coach communicates well with the fans and the media....he's honost and he truly cares for the great state of Louisiana and the team that represents this great university.

Coach O has been in the football business a long time. He brings a wealth of football knowledge and expertise to this team.

Coach O is MY COACH!

WTF, we kept Miles after 1-9-12

That was so wrong. Remember no first downs in the first half against Georgia. Lucky Tyrann ran a great punt return

O already showed what he brings to the team, all the right moves, except for Bama, but they are Bama, they are great!

a head coach is either going to be a strong defensive or offensive mind...so why do we have to hire an offensive minded coach when we can hire a good OC?

Which one of these is Coach O again? It's hard to keep track what narrative you guys push day to day.

Coach O is not a good long term investment because he will be completely reliant on the OC and the DC. If either one fails or leaves, the house of cards falls.

Oregeron was his own defensive coordinator his first year at Ole Miss during the 2006 season. They were terrible and he has said he learned from his mistakes, but he has appointed himself in that role 10 years ago.

I am a fan of coach O, he is great at what he does, recruiting and coaching D-line. My only problem is that in 10 years removed from the Ole Miss HC job, no one has pursued him as a HC else ware. LSU is arguably a top 5 HC destination.

List me the coaches besides Miles that don't already do this. I'll wait.
