Im not gonna justify that.. That was a pretty bad mess up (kinda funny actually) but come on, you can't expect the guy to be a robot... I'm sure we all got a little caught up in that moment

It's cool, I don't feel like enumerating AGAIN to you the many reasons why Hawthorne sucks at calling baseball games. Luckily I don't have to listen to him every game.
Say hello to him at y'all's next family reunion. I'm sure next you'll tell me how he's a great guy that bleeds P&G as if that is a reason to just deal with it.

Caught up in the moment, sure, who wasn't? Mistaking a white safety for a black reciever is inexcusable though. Doesn't matter how many years ago it was either. To me that call represents his body of his work.

He's absolutely right on both of those. Hawthorne and Hanagriff have some of the worst chemistry I've ever heard from two radio veterans.

He calls fly balls to the warning track home runs.
He complains about the umpires instead of telling us exactly what happened.
He never lets Hanagriff finish his thought before cutting him off for something that could have waited.
He is the only person on Earth that called bases "sacks."
For just "random bitching," I haven't seen any of this addressed yet.

They're supposed to know more. The color man brings the knowledge. The play-by-play guy brings the voice and delivers the action.......which he does very well. Does he make mistakes here and there?? Of course. But, whomever happens to be your favorite announcer has done the same....often. His voice is synonymous with LSU athletics and I love to hear him call all sports. Hope he hangs on for a while.
