How about he gets fired or leaves and gets replaced with a Gus Malzahn type? Why does it always have to be a bad coach?
It doesn't always have to be in the hypothetical...but history has shown that making a change from a good/great coach to ANOTHER good/great coach doesn't happen all that often. It's is, by definition, an unknown. And even if you bring in a coach that has a proven track record there is no guarantee that he'll win at your place. Again...we've seen this time and time again.
We are currently winning at a clip never before seen at the university. We are bringing in tons of talent every year and sending tons of talent to the NFL. Our brand is as strong as it ever has been. Making a change because there is a perception that the program is boring or on some downward spiral in HOPES that there will be an upgrade from the best era we've ever had is...well, wishful thinking of the highest order.
Could it happen? Yeah...it could. To assume it's even likely flies in the face of history though.

you clearly don't get it. you are making my argument for me by posting that. ya know how many more wins he could have if he fixed what i laid out above? and maybe another title? you realize that?

So you fire him. Who would hire that can do a better job than he has?

WTF said they expect to win the sec every year? who?
maybe every 3.3 years which is 3 in 10 years.
2 sec titles in 10 years with the talent we have, his paycheck and these facilities is not acceptable and that is what we will have after this year with leslie.
especially when we are not getting very good player and game management, on the field discipline or preparation. its been that way for years!!!!!!!!

Well shite...I want to win badly. As an LSU fan, I'd appreciate it if you'd forward this info to Coach Miles. I'd hate for this info to be kept here when it could be helping our Tigers win tons more games and titles.

Thanks!

You spent a lot of words to say absolutely nothing. Just rant retreads.

I find this absolutely ridiculous. It makes me think you never played sports and especially in college. When you get to the college level everyone is talented and just winning games is extremely hard. What CLM has done is amazing and if you don't realize that then you need to go find something else to do. What he does is win games! What is impressive is sometimes when we don't play well we still win and beat quality teams. No team ever is going to come out and play good every single night. Teams will come out flat and there is no way around it and sometimes that will result in a loss, unfortunately. And your comment about LSU players and the NFL is laughable. You can't honestly believe that and I'm not even going to waste my time commenting on that.
I'm afraid many people are going to be dissappointed when Miles is no longer here! These same people will be mad at the new coach and miss winning 10 games a year, because it's never happened here before and it doesn't happen very many places in the country!!! I like to win at anything and I don't care what it looks like as long as we have more points at the end of the day!![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)

I like miles but would it would it kill him to adjust a game plan every now and then. He always plays not to lose. How can you see what your QB has when all they do is hand it off into a stacked box. Other teams change QB and don't have near the problems we have.

Actually, doing the same thing over and over, knowing you're gonna get the same results is more insane.
This world and it's people are insane, all of them, and I know why.

All I needed to read. Great post.
The sad thing about this entire topic...hell, this entire mindset, is that for some it was etched in stone all the fricking way back in 2005 with the Tennessee loss. When they get angry enough, many of them will be honest and go full Colonel Nathan Jessup and give you a "YOU'RE GODDAMN RIGHT I'M STILL MAD ABOUT TENNESSEE!!!!!!!"
Les Miles, unfortunately, never had much of chance in the minds of far too many LSU fans. For this contingent, he was never worthy of replacing Nick Saban. even when his team won the title in 2007, this group credited Saban. And when Nick came back to the SECW, hell...it was over. It's irrelevant that LSU has won at a clip higher than any point in our history. All this group can see is that Saban has done better. Throw in a completely understandable meltdown against Tenn back in 2005 and the same type of hardheaded coaching that ALL successful coaches display when they think they're right and you've had a portion of fan literally pulling against the coach of the program they report they love.
What happens when Miles is done here is anyone's guess. My hope is that when he does leave, we're lucky enough to replace him with someone who's able to keep it going and make it grow in the same way Miles took over from Saban. Three in a row like that is unprecedented...but as a fan of the program it's what I hope.

You know what majority of people's definition of insane is? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.
We all know the Miles bashers are idiots, but I guess we can add insane to the list.

8-5 should be acceptable this year given the youth on this team.
So if that is a default year to be a realistic 8-5 (Especially the way he calls conservative games), then why not play aggressive like we did late in the game and make it fun, compete with a go for it mentality using the talent (however young they are) Fournette, Dupre, and Harris--why play conservative with that bunch????
What did Bama do to us in 2011? They came out with a gameplan LSU did not anticipate or practice for-That gave them a huge advantage with those wheel routes perfectly thrown by McCarron. What did we do? Same smash mouth stuff and Bama was waiting for it. JJ passes were thrown to the sidelines with his lost look.
We need to make a game plan that no one expects, utilize that talent and get them in space. With an arm like Harris lets put the defense guarding our 4 wide then Harris can throw deep, mid range or run up the gut, or Fournette et all can then have room to run.
Perfect call to a TE. Saw Drew B hit the TE last Sunday. He pumped the safety over to the left and had the TE wide open for a TD.
We get 3 WR to the left, 5 linemen and TE lined up right side, and LF left side. We can either fake a wide pitch to LF and then let Smith run down the seem and hit him or Let one WR run a fly pattern and the other 2 runs a 10 yard out and the other settles in the left seem 15 yards. Harris pump fakes to one of the WR, and then finds Smith running free down the right hash marks for an easy pass and maybe a TD if the safety breaks for the pump fake.

Then kudos to you, sir!
I wish there were more like you.
And look...I'll never argue that EVERYONE has to like the style of play Miles has brought. I know for some winning isn't everything. It's hard for me to get on board with that mindset, but I do understand it. But to complain that he hasn't won enough just flies in the face of reality.
Let me take this one step further. Many in the fanbase bitch about not playing great OOC teams more often. Presumably fans want to see games against better teams because they pose a greater threat...right? But that threat is the threat of losing. If you can't handle losing, then why desire tougher games...unless you expect to win them all...which in turn means that you don't really desire tougher games, just bigger names to defeat easily.
Playing sports brings with it the risk of losing. LSU has won games at a winning percentage higher than at any time in its history under the current coach. The only way to bitch about that would be to claim he should have done even better than what already constitutes the best era in the program's history. That's just not an enviable argument to have to make as far as I'm concerned.
