First off the logic of your question is extremely flawless. You see, one does not need to be a peer of the coach to criticize or to recognize room for improvement, even vast improvement. There are 120 other peers of the coach who take part in setting the standard by which we judge the coach.
Now to answer your question directly, I'd take the USCw offenses of the early part of the 2000s, box it up, and deliver it to BR in a heartbeat. The talent and the desired philosophy of the staff is not that dissimilar. Run first, run second, play defense and then mix in pass off the play action. The difference is the scheme they use to accomplish those goals.
An even simpler answer, however is to go watch the 4 plays immidiately after our 2 LBs went out the game Saturday. UF put on a clinic on how to recognize and attack a weakness, something I can't recall the last time I've seen an LSU team do.

Im starting every game off with quick passes, three step drops and the ball is gone. Im going down the middle and to the boundary with these passes. Im trying to get Mett in a rhythm to get his confidence up a little and also get the wide outs feet wet with a few catches under their belt. Once the defensive backs off a little and spreads to stop the short passing game, Im going up the gut running and throwing in some deeper play action. I just want a little more aggression out of the offense and not playing in fear of making a mistake.

I know we have our issues on offense and the coaches made it obvious they don't trust the offense in the first half of the Florida game when we were around the 10 and 15 yard line and were completely vanilla! I know you play to win the games and I understand trying to avoid a mistake, but we never got in a grove when we had a defense with enough energy to stop Florida. And knowing Florida's history in the past few games of starting slow and finishing strong, why would you not be overly aggressive in the first half since we know they play best in the second half?

Just do more first down play action passing and more throws across the middle to the Nic Jacobs. Throw in some wild tiger formations with Shep or Magee taking the direct snap. The wild tiger could make a huge difference just to change the pace and get good yards.

The coaching staff is absolutely dumb if they don't open up the game with a play action bomb. More than likely USCe won't expect it. Either it will be incomplete or it will be a huge gain and the crowd will be insane from the start. But the coaches have to set the tone early that they will take deep shots down the field and the players have to execute.

I don't have aproblem with the play calling this season. More of a problem with the execution. No mental discipline. From dropped balls to stupid penalities. OBJ, for one, needs his head checked.

More shotgun. More first down quick pass over the middle for 6 to ten yards. More throws down the middle period and less short passes to the flat. Throw to the tight ends and halfbacks more. If the defensive team is getting to Mett than use more screens and draw plays. In the running game do what Florida did to us in the second half and use misdirection and counter plays. If it is 4th and one in the red zone then go for it and don't always kick the field goal. Stop playing not to lose and start playing to win. Take a few chances, gamble like we use to. Stop being so damn conservative.

Les diverted from gameplan after first Mett pic IMO. Ca't rely on D getting +20 t/o margin, and TM7 isn't returning punts. O will have to stand on own two feet, maybe even win a game for D

I would fire Studrawa and Kragthorp then hire Sonny Dykes. Let him run the offense.

Thank you, I thought so.

I agree that is why I asked for opinions and gladly accept and have validated constructive criticisim. I still think idiotic statements of emotion without logical thought are simply useless though.

I am interested in specifics. I feel I have a pretty good understanding of college football and I have my on insights but all too often the people on this board simply cry for a change. It is certainly nice to hope for better production but to cry for or demand a change without suggestion of what specifically should change and an understanding of the foreseeable circumstances is always short sighted.

What specifically would you change with the offense and what adjustments would you have made in Fla game specifically?
What would your attack be to start the game?
more shotgun formation?
what different formations?
faster tempo?
more play action?
more passes across the middle?
more out passes?
more inside/outside running?
more traps?
more option?
different personel? at what positions?
insertion of some "trickeration"?

We all agree that the playcalling is suspect. However, what most people don't understand is that it's not just what you teach, but how you teach it. If I took Nick Saban's defensive handbook and attempted to teach it, I'd fail.

The same thing is true with this. I'm not sure if Les Miles knows how to teach the fine details of a passing game...from the snap all of the way through to the catch. It's attention to detail that separates good and bad coaches.

We need to utilize more variety in our formations.

1. Plays with no TE and 3 wideouts.
2. Plays with no TE and no FB and 4 wideouts.
3. Need to get RB and FB more involved with
passing game--Coaches did this for first
time with Florida.

We need to give our backup QB more reps. Had opportunity with North Texas and Washington. These reps need to involve passing plays.

To be honest the Florida game was one of the better--except for lack of multiple formations--passing gameplans we have had. Unfortunately, we had too many dropped balls, fumbles and poor routes. I think its because it was new to the players. If we are more consistent with our gameplan we will improve.

LSU should be in the Shotgun 90% of the time. Spread the defense out to get them out the box. More WR routes across middle of field. More RB screens. More slants to slot WRs. More TE drags across middle. All TEs and RBs chip DEs on way out.

FACT: against UF, LSU had its most successful plays (running and passing) out of the shotgun.

Basically, run an offense similar to the Patriots or SC Gamecocks. It fits this personnel.

NOW Solutions (this week)

ACOUNTABILITY from the coaches and players. If you can't get the job done (player or coach), put the team first and move aside. If a player continues to struggle, SIT THEM.

1) Krags is the best and only qualified OC on this staff. He needs to be in the booth. As long as his illness is being managed and he is feeling up to it, Miles and Stud need to get the hell out the way. If he takes over, the play calling, scheme, flow, play designs, etc. will get better.

2) Stud needs to be on the sideline. With the injuries and lack of experience of replacement players, Stud has to be on the sideline to get in their face and make adjustments.

3) Shuffle the oline. I DO NOT CARE if Collins likes it at LG or has only been trained at LG (if so, that is another goof by Stud), he is the only player on the oline with the feet, athletic ability, strength and size to play LT at this point. The oline lineup should be: LT-Collins, LG-Hurst/Josh D., C-Lonergan, RG-Williford, RT-Alexander. Hold them accountable. Get their attention. If a player misses to many assignments, false starts, or dumb penalty, bench.

4) Get rid of the stupid "Mett Cave". It keeps him isolated from the team and that is not any way for a QB to become a leader.

5) WR shuffle - Starters: Landry, Wright, Boone - Subs: Williams, Shep, Turner, ODB . Hold them accountable. Get their attention. Jugs machine for all. If you drop a pass during practice, you don't start. If you drop a pass in the game, bench.

6) Play Bolden or Randall as sub for Mett. Use them the same way they did with RP.

I disagree with most of this with the exception of the italicized parts.
Collins missed several pass blocks in the Fla game due to poor inital contact and having his feet stuck in the mud. He stands up way to damn much and after his man is by him he seems to conisder the play over with. He was also slow to make contact off the line on running plays.

We had a five-game pre-season and from all appearances squandered it.
I agree with this. We needed more work on the passing game, including getting the WR's some game reps.
