Let's not forget 100th in the nation in passing efficiency. I want JJ to be great just like the next person, but he simply just doesn't have it. If he starts we are looking at another 9-11 win season, and no SEC championship.

Not so fast my friend.
Without JLee, we lose the Tn and FL games.
We won Despite his QB play in a majority of games. The 2nd half of AL and the bowl game were the shining highlights of his season.

I don't understand it. He has the size to run over DB's but chooses to go out of bounds instead. Appears to me that he's scared of contact.

Unlike # 14.

It's true that J Lee made some piviotal plays in some big games, helping the team to an 11 win season. But on the other side of the coin, what would our record be with out Jefferson? 5,6, 7 wins, some where in there? We will never know but I'm sure it wouldn't have been pretty. It's a good thing we had both players on the team. It seemed to work.

My only problem with JJ is that he never mans up and says I messed up today. He has never once took responsibility for his play.

Jefferson was pretty bad all season... end of year he picked it up and was average...

If he can perform that way an entire season LSU would be in fine shape as long as running game/defense.

My issue each spring we have heard how Jefferson looks good, is working hard, and is improving and during practice he may look great. However, Saturday night is not practice and that is when it matters. So while I believe he will be the starting QB for Oregon if he doesn't perform at an Ole Miss-Texas A&M level then Mett or Lee should get a shot.

JJ was so far from the real thing most of the year that its hard to imagine him being good enough next year.

He and Lee were both so inconsistent... They would look great for a series, a game, a couple of passes, and then look like complete garbage.
End of the year and Texas A&M game Jefferson was not great but he was effective which is what LSU needs from the QB. We don't need an All-SEC QB, we need one who can manage the game and complete the key pass when needed.
I can see him looking average/good in a couple games and looking clueless in others. Same as this year, however, I hope with Mett and Lee pushing him he finally "gets" it and puts it together for 4 quarters each game.
If not I hope Les gives Mett a real chance since he was unwilling last year with Lee because I think this team has a legit chance with adequate QB play to play in SEC Championship game or NC game.

Not sure Lee got a chance to show the trend of constant inconsistent play of JJ.
JJ was horrible at QB and has gotten years of chances despite his ineptness. He was flat out confused, clueless and Bad.
Our offense plain out sucked for 2 straight years. Almost like saying TJ made great progress during the last 2 years. A bright spot ever 4 games or so.

I like how some of the people on here try to be optimistic on here for jj. Yall say he was better at the end of the season, im a realist i say even at his best his stats are garbage!!! yall Think 158 yards is good? Well its great for jj but ask mallet, or luck and watch them piss there pants laughing... I. Give him the 3 tds in the cotton bowl so we can add that TO HIS 4 OTHER TD's "ALL YEAR"!!!!'. Oh lets not forget in his best game he was an eye popping 50 %. in completion!!! oh but i forgot he went 11-2. hahaha get real jl won a couple, and ridley and defense pretty much pulled us through the rest..just think how much better we would have been with someone who can actually hit the side of a barn with a football! now im not a jj hater i have battled with people about him saying give him time he will be good, and if he came out and tore it up i would very happy for him... But and this isa big BUT, i think his time has ran out he is no longer young and im just afraid that everyone i argued with was right he is just not qb material, maybe at james madison he could be good but he is not SEC nor an LSU caliber QB!!!

I still hope Mett beats him out.
Wanting Mett (or Jefferson, or Lee) to win the starting job is not the same as wanting the best player to start. What we all should want is for two of them to be all-american caliber QBs, and the third one to beat them out by being even better. Picking a favorite and hoping for him to win just sets up a bias for yourself against the other two, and there's no good reason for an LSU fan to have any bias against any LSU player*.

*except for the rare cheater, criminal, etc., (Cecil Collins, Lester Earl) for reasons well beyond the bounds of his play

BINGO !! NO favorites, etc - just the best QB

And yes, Crowton is GONE. New OC and QB coach might do wonders for our offense.

I don't think it's because he is out performing anyone. He is just getting most of the reps, and thats per Les Miles

It is too bad JJ is lazy, when he is pushed like last year by JL he gets better. This year Mett and JL will push him so I look for JJ to be really good. It is too bad he can't do it without being pushed.

could be. I seem to remember a west coast QB who was rather mediocre for his first three seasons yet when his senior yr rolled around he won a Heisman......

Carson something or other

Palmer maybe

eta:
* 1999: 39/53 (73.6%) for 490 yards, 3 Passing TDs and 1 Rushing TD; with 3 Interceptions
* 2000: 228/415 (54.9%) for 2914 yards, 16 Passing TDs and 2 Rushing TDs; with 18 Interceptions
* 2001: 221/377 (58.6%) for 2717 yards, 13 Passing TDs and 1 Rushing TD; with 12 Interceptions
* 2002: 309/489 (63.2%) for 3942 yards, 33 Passing TDs and 4 Rushing TDs; with 10 Interceptions

I'm not gonna say JJ can't improve like many of the rantards round this way
