No one is forcing you to watch.
Well, maybe someone is, I don't know. Would be a weird thing to force someone to do.

I'll watch the games and I've been to Dallas for a neutral site game. I just wish the commercialization aspect could find a way to still pay similarly as these kickoff classics at neutral sites, but keep the games at the college stadiums.
For example, a Big 12/SEC challenge to kickoff the season, where half the games could be played at Big 12 venues and half at SEC venues, with all TV revenues split evenly between the 2 conferences.

Solid idea IMHO, though there is still plenty of value in playing neutral site games away from campuses from an exposure standpoint (recruits and general brand exposure), which is kinda hard to quantify.
That said, we'd probably have to wait for the game of conference musical chairs to die down a bit before something like this happens.

There is no incentive for the decision makers to change. There needs to be an advantage of using home sites over neutral sites, or there needs to be a potential (financial) consequence of neglecting the value of home games.

BTW for fans who are advocating more home and home with quality opponents you know they would jack the price of that games ticket up if it were to happen. You'd be happy with say a Michigan in TS but bitching because the $100 ticket is pricing the common fan out of the game

So what? I'd rather pay $100 to watch Michigan in Tiger Stadium over traveling to Dallas and watching at JerryWorld.

Just saying no matter what they do there will be bitching.

If the NCAA mandated that all schools play at least 50% of their non-conference schedule on the road, everyone would end up with more attractive home schedules over time because all teams, including marquee programs, would be forced to go on the road.
But that will never happen!

Would that be any worse than a home and home with Syracuse?

Yes. IMHO. Kansas has won a total of 9 games in the last 4 years.

I'm just grateful they actually scheduled a home and home. It's always fun seeing visitors from far away tailgating at LSU. The Washington fans I met were pretty cool.

I'm grateful we are playing a team from a major conference even if it is Syracuse.

On the other hand marquee neutral site games are attractive to teams. Get a partner like ESPN or ABC involved and you can get two great teams to play a game in prime time on national T.V. with guaranteed money thrown at both teams.
Without a doubt neutral site games make a lot of sense for just about any major college program.
However, for any major college program to give up a home game to travel to any other school's home stadium is almost completely insane at this point. It makes less than zero sense that LSU is even entertaining the idea of travelling to Syracuse. The only way I would even think about it is if they would give us 2 home games in return and then it still isn't a guarantee for me.
I'd rather play SLU in Tiger Stadium than have to give up a home game to play in the Carrier Dome in 2017.
