What did y’all think of KJ’s changes on beam? Her leaps looked better tonight!

There is a lot of difficulty in that routine but it flowed way better for her and she looked much more confident with it overall. I can get behind that. She gets a 9.9+ if she sticks the dismount.

Its a keeper moving forward if thats what we are getting

KJ was rushing through the entire routine and it was no surprise she hopped on the dismount. The fact that she did so well while rushing is a good sign…but…that leap pass with the back tuck could spell trouble if she isn’t totally on. She is a very quick twitch gymnast so I know it is hard for her but she has to learn to relax a little.

Did every single Florida gymnast do a 2 pass routine? I think so. Our only 2 pass routine was dropped. It’s too late to change them but Jay Clark has to consider the benefits going toward next season. I wont hold my breath.

Any thoughts on why Elena’s scores were so low on beam and floor ? I thought she looked great on both

Seems like that is what all the top teams are going towards.

Elena is a very consistent gymnast. She will always hit but won’t ever get you high scores. She has a lot of form issues. Wish Jay would have kept chase in the floor.

We beat Florida, the #2 team in the nation with Trinity Thomas and Leann Wong who typically get a 10 for sneezing. Can we just be happy and positive tonight at least?

Some of that comes from experience too. She needed a hit routine like that under her belt for confidence purposes. Hopefully moving forward she relaxes a little more.

But beam is a tricky event for what I consider 'power gymnasts'. We all know she is dynamite on vault and floor. Her strength as a gymnast is her aggressiveness and power. Beam is a much different animal so learning to adjust on that one particular event takes time

She looks just like Sarah. What I like best about both of them is there smiles. They just bring so much energy to the team. So proud of how the team did tonight. I just about passed out watching the beam tonight holding my breath. They just had so much confidence tonight.

I was also happy that they changed up Elena’s bar routine a bit to give her some breathing room between releases. They changed up some of the routine composition y’all!!! Have to say I am pleasantly surprised.

One thing no one can say is that Florida was underscored, especially on floor. Every routine was 2 passes, and several girls got 9.90+ with what looked like uncontrolled landings (putting it nicely). The last girl had a very shaky 2nd pass and scored 9.950. Better than Haleigh! Absurd.

I loved KJ’s bema routine - it’s a show stopper if she can consistently hit it. I agree with the poster who said her combination that she has to hit for start value is dangerous. It absolutely is - but it was great tonight (and this is the first time she wasn’t up after a mistake). I am hopeful for that routine going forward.

To the person who said Chase has a higher ceiling than Elena on floor. I also agree. However, Chase this season has been more likely to give us 9.6 or lower than 9.85 or higher. I think it may be a smart idea to put Elena in to give some
Consistency in the lineup, so our second half won’t feel the squeeze.

All in all, so happy for them and I do think we out performed Florida tonight - so glad that they are coming into their own.

I just saw the post meet interview and one of the journalists mentioned that this was the first time since 2019 that Florida lost a regular season SEC meet! I did not realize that!

What makes this victory even sweeter is the fact that 2019 we lost to Florida at home by .050, breaking our 35 straight home win streak. Revenge is so sweet
