When you think about it, Les and the staff are still doing pretty well competing on this level with younger guys than their opponents even though they are usually talented.
Also, the fact that the Tigers aren't fielding very many 4th and 5th year players could be a big reason for our high rate of penalties? I am not making excuses but it does make sense. They are lining up against guys two and three years older with that many more seasons in the NCAA for experience. That has to make a difference over the coarse of the season in offensive penalties. Not so much on the defensive side though.

B. S. I hope you are kidding about J. Hill being the best. There are at least 2 backs on LSU's Team that run harder than he does. The guy has all the tools but only uses half of them.
Hill is a top-3 RB in the entire nation let alone our own roster.

Wow our fans are dumb. Look at Hill's ypc and it's not like it's a small sample size. The dude is the most skilled runningback LSU has had in a while.

Why is this surprising to some people?

Because none are sure fire first rounders, and at a lot of schools in this situation the player returns for his senior year. That's why

So... Did you actually watch LSU football this year?

You can thank NFL rule changes that get middling rounds more money and first round picks less.

I agree with this......... And Hill should leave.... His stock will not get any better. He will go in the third round unless a team has a huge need for a RB.

This is so incredibly inaccurate.

I totally agree with your assement. They would improve their draft status with another year under their belt because they were blocked in the ground by in a few games by Freshmen and Sophomores. I really hope they take a serious look at their game.

Don't REPEAT the same mistakes made by last years jr s. Ask Ford or just about any of them how things are working out. Dam at least learn from the mistakes of others.

Ford actually made the Bears 53. Not to mention it's hard to blame any RB especially for leaving early, even if they might go undrafted because teams go through them and rotate so often.
Guys like Freak and Ego....they could both benefit greatly. Freak was being mocked in the first round unanimously this year. I don't see him getting drafted before the 3rd round. Actually I see Ego going higher than him.

Collins had some tough moments at times too
Understand the WRs but the trench players would do well to return

Maybe they dont wanna stick around to lose 3 games
if talented juniors such as themselves would stick around for their senior season they would not lose 3 games.
plus
regardless next year shapes up well for LSU.. easier schedule. especially if any of them were to return. I really want Collins back the most.

So, you don't think they can progress and get better? If they are the best we have you wouldn't want them to stay?

I really hope we have guys make wiser decisions than the really, really poor ones made last year.
With the new rookie salary cap, it's all about getting to the NFL as soon as possible to get that second contract. The difference between first round and second round and third round aren't what they used to be.
I can't blame guys for leaving early now.

Landry talks the talk AND walks the walk. He's a conscientious young man, who is sincerely thankful for the opportunities LSU has given him, including finishing his degree. I really hope he sticks around.
Posted on 12/30/13 at 8:40 am to LSUcrawfish
Once again, these young men need to stay and finish their careers at LSU. I do not see any of these players going in the first round. I could see some of them falling below projection due to lack of size and/or speed. It should not be about the money; part of our problem is that we " talk up early entry" all of the damn time.

What is the date in which they must declare?
