The Past Time is a good place too. Years ago we would get there at 10:30ish and meet up with our gang, eat, drink, etc. They would leave their cars there and ride in with me and my dad (we have a parking pass). Now I get to the stadium at 7:30, so I haven't done that in a long time.

man, each time i see "the chimes" my mind automatically pictures "bbq shrimp", sending me into drooling-homer states of mind.
god i miss good food!

alot of people have said to go to the station, BAD idea if you wanna keep your face unbroken. Lots of fights! nice place to kick it is the new wine loft in perkins rowe, for some good kajun food chek out boutins resturant best kajun food in br, and they have kajun music (live).

We usually get to our tailgate spot around 5:30 am it does not matter when the game starts! So we will be there early

I strongly suggest you don't go to Walk-Ons for food, but go for the atmosphere/bar. Plus, it's pretty much on campus.
Ruffino's isn't on campus, but that's one of Herbstreit's "must go" places he lists for visiting college football fans.

Sullivan's is a great suggestion. Also Ruffino's at I10- & Highland. TJ Ribs, Acadian & I-10, Ninfa's - College & I-10 near Sullivan's, Mike Anderson's West Lee near Campus. Have a great time.

I'd def. grab lunch Friday at PastTime. Very cool LSU hangout. Lot's of people eat there so yall can easily strike up a conversation with any Tiger fans.
I'd also def. eat dinner at Chimes on Saturday. They have a lot of beer on tap (40ish I think) so I would plan on drinking there after.
After the game, I would head over to Serranoes (right next to Chimes and The Varsity). It will be PACKED, but they have a ton of girls and a live band.

quote:We went to Athens in 2004 and had no problem finding a great spot to tailgate . We were probably there about 6 am. The UGA fans around us were very hospitable and quite amused that the alligator we were frying was killed off of my buddy's wharf . All in all good people in Athens , every college town has its share of pricks . Shoot me an email and I will do all I can to help . I live just below New Orleans so I can point you in the right direction if you want to head there. chuckthomas@bellsouth.net

You know what I am 27 and can be an obnoxious drunk sometimes but its all in good fun. Like someone said before you can't take it personal , you have to have thick skin, its what college football is about. We have a great spot in Athens so when yall come hit me up.

I know you will have a great time. I enjoyed the last trip to Athens (before kickoff) and met some great people - although walking down fraternity row was an "experience" in LSU gear with the wives/girlfriends.
As others have said, tailgaters will take good care of y'all on gameday. We always have the visiting team fans at our tailgate - we are even related to some of them.
This game (or Bama) is most likely our annual camp out game, depending on weather. We will be tailgating starting at 2 or 3pm on Friday. Poker, lots of beer/food, and the wives send the kids out with us to camp out.
We would be glad to have y'all come by. We are on Nicholson, 200-300 yds from the stadium, between the bike path and railroad track, between the two baseball stadiums (old & new Alex Box). Email me at smith427@bellsouth.net and I will send you a map of our exact location that also has some landmarks for that side of campus mentioned in other posts.
Geaux Tigers - only 40 days to kickoff.

if you want some interesting cajun food and culture, check out boutin's
perkins rowe is pretty cool.
there are plenty of really good restaurants in baton rouge. you won't be hurting for good food.
1. on gameday, good food from vendors right outside the pmac next to the stadium
2. watch the band come down the hill an hour and a half before the game. get there early because there will tons of people there
3. whatever you do, don't miss pregame 15 mins prior to kickoff. the lines to get in the stadium will be long. you'll be able to say you've seen lsu's pregame for a big sec game. it doesn't get better than that.

I do not go back to BR without getting the Chimes New Orleans BBQ shrimp, a stuffed potato and a salad with italian dressing (garlic floating in it). That's after we've eaten the sauteed crab claws. By far, my favorite restaurant of all time.
I think the original poster will be staying on airline, so the Chimes on Coursey is not a bad alternative to the Chimes at the northgates.

quote:You'll fit in fine . I can't imagine hanging at a bar/restaurant on gameday .That would be a gross waste of time . Plenty entertainment, booze , food available from 7 am. on til gametime . should it wind up being an early game, there will be overnighters. We camped out last year for Arky .....brrrrr . We were frying backstrap at 2 in the morning .
can be an obnoxious drunk

yummmm....Speaking off I hear it is a toss up of what time gametime will be? I can't imagine it not being a night game.

You will have a blast no matter where you go in town. As for the game you will be fine I would stay away from some of the kids on campus. Just like other places some of the kids get a little to drunk and talk a little toooo much shite.
You will be good if you don't get to envolved with that type of stuff. Seek out HATT or Crew of them dudes or any of the bigger groups and you will have a blast ( TV's, food, drinks, music, and tons of fun people ) you're in for a treat.
