Skip had losses like this but this year's team already has 11 losses. There is no consistency. I know Latz needed an opportunity to pitch. You just can't lay an egg like this and not expect it to hurt come selection time.

in 2000, after four conference series, we had lost 10 games.

the selection committee will not look at one game in a season

People jumped on me when I brought up losing the mid-week games.

As an alum, I say this is unacceptable. As a TAF contributor, I say this is unacceptable. As a season ticket holder, I say this is unacceptable. But the cuts to higher ed may shut this all down anyway so...???

I disagree, but I guess it's cool to get destroyed by McNeese.

Nobody is saying it is a good thing to lose mid week games. It is just not as big of a deal as the over reactors on this board think it is. This team will be seeded in post season play based on what they do in conference play. There are enough games against quality competition to counter the mid week losses.

Your post that you linked looks even worse now. Lamar is actually good. RPI of 37 and a 15 game winning streak going right now.

That doesn't take away from my point that these mid week games won't matter by the end of the season. Plus outside of Bama I would say the SEC play has been where you expected before season.

I presume you never played a game at a high level.

they can actually play at non P5 schools.

pitching being 90% of the game, if your #1 is on, you win.
Period.

You watch the NCAA playoffs. You will see teams from schools whose basketball is "mid-major" win some games in the NCAA baseball first round because they throw their #1 out there and the dude can pitch. Many of those guys end up in the majors.

We just took 2/3 from one of the top 2-3 teams in the league if not the country. It's ok if you don't follow baseball but don't just throw shite at a wall.

Yes, that was a great accomplishment. I hope it can continue. Apart from that it has been less than stellar. I am looking at the season as a whole so far rather than going off the recent high of beating a top-notch team, and I don't think that is completely unreasonable??

we lost 2/3 to a top 5 A&M team in a series that could have gone either way. we beat Auburn 2/3 and beat #2 Vandy 2/3. Alabama was probably a bad series loss. Looking at the season, as a whole, losing 8 starters, it has been about what should have been expected outside Lange's struggles. Hopefully he continues to pitch like he did this past Friday.

It seemed to be a big deal when Tulane had won.
