Finebaum also said the choice of Notre Dame-Georgia in primetime was a mistake, given how the season has played out. “How stupid does that look now,” he said.

The Nov. 9 LSU-Alabama game would have been a better primetime choice, he said, as he pointed to the narrative that this is the best LSU team in recent memory with the chance to beat Alabama.

“ This LSU team is different. They’re the most exciting LSU team I can ever remember,” Finebaum said. “You make your chops in this business by making the right call, and CBS blew it. They’re sitting there right now with the game of the year, one of the biggest games in the 10 years, and they could have had it in primetime as the biggest game of the college football season and it’s literally buried at 2:30 (Central Time) in the afternoon with 4,000 other games on.”

Not very stupid if you're in the business of making money.

He is very right I say this all the time. Finebaum really isn’t an idiot. Most of what he says is idiotic because it gets click. But if he wanted to be he could probably be one of the better and more tuned in college football pundits. But he’d rather be a troll.

For a change, he's right. It's unbelievable that they let that happen. But it's their loss, not ours. If LSU beats them, I don't care what time of the day it is.

Being a Monday morning quarterback on the call...or several weeks later Monday morning qb. Given recent history of LSU / bama, it was the right call. Not many were expecting LSU to be this good.

It was ranked 6th out of the last 8 or 9 Alabama prime time games. So they blew their prime time load on a new game and it didn’t get the ratings they were hoping for. Surely they were hoping it would top those previous 8.

CBS is practically stealing money from the SEC under the current contract. It ends in 2023 and will almost certainly not be renegotiated or renewed.

The SEC will either sign a full exclusivity contract with ESPN/ABC or will allow Fox to have their choice of a game each week.

LSU has not played well against Bama with the CBS night game. Haven’t even really looked competitive. Play the game at 2:30

Yes well I hate to break it to PAAWWLLL but hindsight is always 20/20. ND is a huge draw that CBS hardly ever would have a chance to broadcast. Unlike the last few LSU-Bama games, the ND-UGA game 2 years ago was great and this years game was good. Seeing as LSU scored 14 points in 3 years vs Bama and has lost 7 straight of these, it makes total sense they passed.

Now passing on LSU-Florida for Bama-A&M, that’s harder to defend

I’m going and would much rather tailgate all day and whip their arse in prime time. The biggest games deserve to be played on the biggest stage. I don’t subscribe to this movement on the Tiger Rant that we want to hide from Alabama and play them in an off slot.

I'm not a fan of the ESPN family of networks, but I'd gladly take them or Fox over CBS. CBS broadcasts drag out way too long, and 2:30 games are not ideal. ESPN does a better job of getting the big games in prime time, given that they have more channels.

FOX is terrible in Baton Rouge. Picture quality is poor and sound is muzzled.

You're right.

Yikes, CBS. This could rival those 2011 numbers.

He’s correct and I’m glad.

We should want this Bama game to be a regular game and not a spectacle, Game of the Century 2.0

I get Fox in HD in the Acadiana area on my digital antenna. I watch ESPN games online. Not sure what's going on with the Baton Rouge affiliate.

We've tried it on COX and antenna. It's difficult to watch shows in prime time because of how dark some of them are. Watch the same show On Demand and it's crystal clear. Same with NFL on Thursdays. Looks great on NFL Network and crap on FOX. I've emails FOX and called COX. They each blame the other.
