My thoughts exactly. Isn’t every college QB or any other player “temporary “ by the nature of college sports itself?

he certainly isn't getting any help from a patchwork line and receivers who can't get separation.

I think this is the point, Red. His supporting cast has to help him out and allow him to complete those balls. He's shown he can fit the ball in tight windows if given the time.

Players are not temporary if you have a system in place. In some programs the names on the back of the jersey changes but the results are more or less the same.

Why does Ohio St always seem to have a guy (or frequently multiple guys) they can slide right in there and get production from? They're developing their guys and they're more or less interchangeable. That's why Cardell Jones can sub in for an injured JT Barett and win the NC.

There's no temporary fix in that program because they keep churning out QBs. They're not getting QBs from other schools.

No I agree. I just don't know if we're going to see any improvement from the supporting cast or not this year.

I know one thing...if we don't..... we will get the shite kicked out of us when we play the big boys out east.

Let me rephrase and say I agree with you. The actual players come and go, the staff creates the opportunity for success or failure for them and the program.

I think they will continue to get better. It's still a relatively new offense. That completion percentage will continue to climb. I disagree with the vanilla crap would have liked to see them work on this in the games, but we're gonna find out in the next couple of weeks what's what.

He also did a good job with the QB's at La Tech and at A&M.

Did he?

Texas A&M - Corey Pullig - QB

Year Before Slinger (1993)
Compl %.....59.3
Yards..........1732
Y/A............7.1
TDs............17
INTs...........10
QB Rating...134

Year 1 Under Slinger
Compl %.....58.9
Yards.........2065
Y/A............7.5
TDs............13
INTs...........7
QB Rating...132.5

Year 2 Under Slinger
Compl %.....53.7
Yards.........2105
Y/A............6.9
TDs............14
INTs...........9
QB Rating....120.5

ETA:

I guess I could also point this out. Three years with the same QB, so the comparison is valid.

Year Before Slinger Calling Plays:
1993:
- 35.4 PPG (9th in country)

Years With Slinger Calling Plays:
1994:
- 29.0 PPG (30th in country)

1995:
- 27.2 PPG (38th in country)

So he inherited a QB and a high scoring offense and made both worse.

Ensminger was not UGA’s OC in 1992. The late Wayne McDuffie was, as he and McDuffie were hired in 1991

Ensminger was widely credited at the time as a good QB coach because Eric Zeier was his QB. How much of the success was due to Zeier and how much was his coaching is hard to know.

Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio St, Penn St, Stanford, Notre Dame, all in the top 10, all undefeated, all would probably not be terrified to play LSU this saturday.

I would rather not. I'm not a fan of Finebaum at all. I just happen to agree with him in this case. I mean, he did say that Burrow was a fix and that the QB play was to be determined under O. It's not as if he was discrediting the guy.

If you want to be technical about it everything in existence is temporary. Nothing lasts forever. In the grand scheme of things the sun is temporary because it will burn out one day.

Players are afforded 5 years to play four, sometimes 6 years. In that sense, getting a player for a 2 year maximum as a grad transfer is absolutely a temporary fix to a problem that exists due to not having a player in your program that is capable of filling that spot.

And that poor QB play was Miles' undoing, to be determined for Orgeron. Also called Burrow a "temporary fix"

I love it, that is called FUEL!!!!! Keep it up pundits, please keep giving our boys bulletin board material. Keep giving our boys those chips on their shoulders to wear, and watch them keep winning!!!!

He didn't say anything negative about the team, a player or the coach. How is that bulletin board material?

He’s here for 2 years how’s it a temporary fix?

In his opinion, QB development at LSU is broken and has been over the course of several OCs. It was still broken so LSU brought in a JR transfer who is a “temporary fix”. If it was not broken, they’d have gone with one of the highly touted sophmores rather than risk damaging team chemistry by bringing in an outsider 2 months before the season.

The point is, LSU has to prove it can grow its own QBs.

And Borrow has been with LSU for what 3.5 months. He's getting better every week and with an offensive line that continues to regroup with injuries.
