I have spoke to more than one person who became an LSU fan due to WWL nighttime broadcast of the Tigers long ago.
Oh and I listened to the infamous LSU vs Miami of Ohio oh oh debacle from Ft Lauderdale Fla.
One of the very few home games I have missed over the last 30- 40 years

I listened to the 1990-91 First Round March Madness Basketball game (LSU vs. Connecticut)in San Angelo, Texas. Hawthorne made me feel like I was back home in BR town.

Listened to lots of games in Merritt Island, FL on the BIG 870.
Not during football season and not very good reception but did pick it up in Nashua, NH.

Reloading this thread, you can hear WWL all the time in Charleston. I've also heard them just outside of Washington, DC and almost to the New York area before WCBS 880 interferes.

1971 Indianapolis. I was going trough Army OCS at Ft. Harrison. Connected a speaker wire to my receiver, ran it out the window and around a telephone pole. The guys I was rooming with thought I was crazy.

You can't pick up WWL in South Florida. A station in Cuba drowns it out.

Stowe Fricken Vermont for the McNeese game !...
It wasn't crystal clear, but I could make out Hawthorne doing the halftime stats...
then I went back into the hotel and watched the game on my laptop on espn3.com using my verizon card....crazy!!

It's awesome a huge part of the country can hear LSU football games on the radio at night. Of course this was a bigger deal back in the 70s and what not but it's still cool.
