re: Fans wanted transparency but CLM wouldn't give it

I will never understand this "transparency" thing.
Like it or not, College Football is a business with the objective to beat the competition. Those reading this who have jobs work for companies that have the objective to beat the competition. Those companies probably meet and discuss how they will beat the competition, but NONE go out in public and announce their plans.
Why should anyone expect any coach to make their advantages, disadvantages and strategies public? Why should any coach open his strategy sessions (practice) open to the public. Private companies don't and that includes the broadcasting companies represented by the media who demand transparency and openness.
Let the local media broadcast their business plans for next year and then ask for transparency.

That's why Orgeron is in a 2-year deal.
What? He signed a 5 year contract that hooks LSU for 8.5 million if he's fired after two years.

Miles is perfectly able to articulate a coherent statement. He chose not to because the media asked him questions they knew he wouldn't answer and he enjoyed fricking with them.
I always found this funny as well...those that genuinely thought Miles was stupid. Oh...you could question his ideas and various coaching methods, sure...but the guy wasn't dumb. He was eccentric as all frick, but it was obvious his answers were delivered like that because he enjoyed it, for whatever reason.
I mean...would anyone really want to compare IQ tests between our current coach and our previous one...?

The Florida win showed me that they have not given up on CEO.

That can be powerful...we'll find out for sure Saturday.

Except he's in a 5 year deal with a 12 million buyout (which drops to 8.5 in January).
it'll be a $6M buyout after year 2, right? Yeah, that's still not a good deal considering what they're still going to be paying Les Miles at that point in time.
Good lord, LSU really needs Orgeron to work out...

you're right but I think it drops to $6M after 2 complete years.

no, but we also can't see a team just give up on the season. we've already taken shots in recruiting. I'm just part of the crew that wants the bleeding to subside. I want LSU to play as they are capable.

+1 on everything you've said in this and many other threads. You do a nice job using logic and reason to keep this place from running amok.

I did not agree with closing off practices to the media. I thought that was stupid
I don't remember who said it (Moscona?), but one of the theories on this was that he didn't want the media finding out how bad the offense is.

Thinking of O being on the sidelines of Tiger stadium for 2 years and THEN having to pay him $6,000,000 to frick off...

You saying Les is a trans?
Posted on 10/10/17 at 10:04 am to jptiger2009
Les was the most miserable coach in the history of coaches.
Ed still can't believe he got the job. The pic below depicts this.

Except he's said a couple of times that there have been practices when the defense couldn't stop the offense. Now, if the offense could only show that in a game...

He hasn't though. That's the thing.

I gotta say, I applaud you for sticking around to explain your position. So many threads are started with something like "Coach gone win championship now!" In the subject line but nothing in the message body and you never see the OP again except maybe for some occasional name calling.
But this...
...Is what's driving many fans crazy. It sure seems like exactly the same thought processes Alleva used to make this decision in the first place. With tens of millions of dollars in revenue on the line that guy just went "oh what the hell" and flipped the keys to Orgeron. It blows my mind.
But what makes even less sense (to me) is to say "well obviously that was a terrible approach.... But let's keep doing it for 3-5 more years because....Well why not?" But that's probably what we'll do.

This!
Why do fans "deserve" transparency? What business is it of anyone's if and why a player is suspended? Would you want your boss telling the world that you've been suspended because you got caught with weed, or didn't show up for work on time, or whatever?
Why should O have said the DL will suck if a few get injured? Shouldn't that be obvious to anyone with half a brain? Why should he have said the OL will have problems because a player quit and there are no backup OTs if someone gets hurt? Shouldn't that be obvious to anyone with half a brain?
And why should he release any information that will do nothing but provide fodder for more criticism?
Posted on 10/10/17 at 10:17 am to jptiger2009
What are you freaking smoking? Is it opposite day, din't get the memo. CLM would tip his hand out of arrogance & confidence in other guys. O blocked media, is hiding player issues, injuries, & then when he does give info, it's in another language.

And being secretive is ok, being transparent is ok, being quirky is ok, being from down da bayou is ok.......as long as you are winning.
When your team looks like undisciplined crap, and you appear clueless, you better understand that anything that you are doing that is 'different' will be highly criticized.
