No. Last guy I'm worried about.

Certainly interested in hitting stats and strike outs, but what about the walks! Ouch! Most pitchers are walking.5 batters per inning. Too many!

It is, but I think they will be fine. A lot of the high walk pitchers are younger guys. They may take a little while to get better.

Bucknam has 7 but his stats are skewed from a really bad 1st weekend of pitching. The last 2 weekends he has been better. Herring is another freshman with walks and that is surprising. Overall I don't think it is as big of a concern right now. Come the spring they should be more consistent and will get to figure out who they can trust as the early season goes on pre SEC play.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but I’m saying what he attempts to do. He did the same last year but it was more obvious.

White just crushes the ball. His exit velocities are even better than Crews if you can imagine that.

He will hit a ton of HR's for LSU.

One thing to remember in all this is how Jay looks at Thompson. Jay likes him regardless of what a lot of people think. He consistently comments how Thompson is one of the most clutch hitters on the team and seems to come through when the big hit is needed. He has said that multiple interviews. I don't think stats in the fall will make a difference in the starting SS spot. It is Thompson's to lose and I think Guidry will have to be a lot better to take the SS position in the spring.

Ask me in late March. Crews is a known commodity who for all we know is specifically working on an approach weakness.

Disagree. Guidry starts at SS opening day and keeps the job for 2 years barring injury.

Nah.

But will definitely interesting to see who DHs opening night if Skenes is starting.

If it’s Dugas or White, Guidry could get the start at 2B or 3B.

Taylor is 16k. 6/4/6

Looking back though these scrimmage threads. But shout out to Scuba. Who else would do this.

I'll be very surprised if White isn't starting at 3B game one.

White is locked at 3B barring freak injury.

I think he’ll start game one too. Dugas will probably be in the field as well.

I think Jay likes having a bat at 2nd base as long as they are serviceable defensively. I still haven't seen enough of Dugas to know if he can be solid defensively.

If Guidry keeps coming at the plate, I think he could make you better as a team starting at 2nd. I would say Dugas is going to have to hit really well to justify the drop off defensively from Guidry.

2nd is also an easier position to break in a young player. This is assuming JT gets it done at SS.

Is Jay actively or noticeably coaching infield defense during these?

The scrimmages? No.

Practice? Yes.

ETA: He focuses a ton on offensive execution during the scrimmages. Working a pitcher. Getting down a bunt. Advancing a runner with a hit and run. Sac flies. Most of the scoring is based on this execution. The defense can get points too though. Getting the out on a bunt. Double plays. Etc.

Floyd still has a number of walks but based on these stats, looks like he is really dealing right now.
