Weather was humid but not too warm with a 10mph NNE wind.

There was considerable excitement in both dugouts today, especially toward the end of the scrimmage as purple came from behind to outscore gold in Coach Johnson's scoring method. I wish I could get a printout of how points are scored in this system.

I thought Hasty had sealed the deal for Gold. Apparently you can lose points, even when batting. I think I noticed you lose a point if the batter strikes out.

I spoke to a player's Mom tonight. She told me that Johnson told the team that you don't want to be the losing team tonight. She had no idea what the incentive was.

Holts homer almost cleared the right field bleachers. Bomb indeed

That really surprised me. He put it in the top of the outfield bleachers. He is not a big guy, but that was a bomb.

Is the Holt kid a big kid? Is he expected to hit with power?

Holt is probably 5’9” 170-175. Not big. But power is still possible at that size of you have good bat speed.

Looks like

Gold 6 runs, 7 hits, 2 errors
6 BB, 1 HBP, 10 Ks (batting)

Purple 2 runs, 5 hits, 2 errors
4 BB, 10 Ks (batting)

Do you think the Ks were good pitching, poor hitting, or a combination? Hopefully the pitching was good.

Nice to see the rust coming off Morgan and Crews.

This team has a ton of potential.

And thanks Scuba for the reports. Highlight of the fall sports season!

The strikeouts were a combination of poor AB's and good pitching. Some batters haven't found their timing and mechanics yet and take some awkward swings and some aren't seeing the ball very well. We also have some pitchers with good stuff that are hard to hit.

I think Holt is faster than his listed time as well. At least he appears to be quick.

I think he compares to Cranford, but that blast has me thinking he might have more power than Cranford.

I think he is lighter than that. Might be 160lbs. It was a bomb

How’s Hal Hughes doing in these intrasquads? Heard he’s improved a lot at the plate this offseason! This is the year he finally figures it out.

Holt has more power but looks tiny out there. Cranford is by far the smoothest fielder out there. If he hits, will have to put him out there. Berry looks VERY shaky at 3B. Could easily see Doughty at 3B and Cranford at 2B with Berrry at DH. Cranford might sneak in at SS. There will be some really good kids cut and some really good kids not starting. SLU, Tulane, UNO and USL may pick up some good players after our cuts.

Someone asked me this weekend if Brennan Holt is related to J.C.Holt, the CF'er from 2003-4. I don't know if he is but he looks alot like him, physically. Does anyone know if they are related?

B. Holt has 1 HR this fall. Will Safford has 2HR this fall.
Both have more pop than you would think looking at their size.

Brennan is not related to J.C. I grew up with J.C.’s family, and they are all located in Rapides Parish. Brennan is from Baron Rouge.

C'mon man.

Scuba does us an invaluable service with the fall reports. No need to populate 'em with childish posts. There are a dozen other threads where this would be fitting. But these aren't those. TIA
