Face Value Regardless of TAF Tradition Funds

technically, you are correct..."face" is whatever dollar amount is printed on the ticket..."my cost" is face+TAF+the multitude of fees that are added....

it is typically pretty easy to understand what someone means when you hear the price though, so I wouldn't get my drawers all wadded up over simple semantics....

Why should I pay someones TAF fee?

Are they going to give me a tax deduction?

"your view is that I should pay for you to attend a game"

No his view is that he should be able to go to a game at face value. If you have the money to pay TAF, that's good for you and that was your choice to donate. Others that don't have that money may just want to attend a damn game.

We could get into the holier than though argument that some stuck up SOB's like to get into on this board and ask why the frick a Tiger Fan is selling North Texas and Towson tickets because "true" Tiger fans go to every game.

Not how it works bud. I would love to buy my season tickets without having to pay the TAF fee ("donation"). Unfortunately LSU doesn't give me a choice of whether or not to "donate" in order to get my tickets.

Whoever holds the tickets gets to set their price. If it's too high, they will either go down or eat them.

If I were to sell my Alabama tickets, I would try and get as much as I can to offset the loss on the shittier games.

TAF Donation is part of a cost to buy the tickets and should be added in when selling them IMO.....Pro-rated of course depending on the opponent

No one has a good answer for this. Why should anyone without season tickets help fund the season ticket holders donation?

If it held true in every case, the season ticket holders will never change because of the funding they get from people looking to buy single game. If the market prices them out of buying their season tickets because of the donation, oh well.

Sure they give you a choice. You pay the donation or don't get your tickets. Give me the good reason someone should help fund your rights to season tix and your tax deductions.

Paying the TAF fee + face is more than reasonable for any decent game.

To WHO?

Funny, all the cheapskates who didn't support LSU in the lean years (the 90's), now want ONLY THE GOOD TICKETS at far less than fair market value.

They all laugh and joke about screwing over season ticket holders and getting non-conference games for $5-10.

But, when they can't get Bama for a $100, they cry like a bunch of pussies.

Guess what -- it's not your ticket and you don't get to decide what someone can sell it to you for. Get the f*ck over it.

There's nothing wrong with letting the market set the price. If you can find a ticket for $5, there's nothing wrong with buying it. The only ones who piss me off are the ones who pay $5 when they're available for that price, then complain and bitch if people want $200 when the market supports that price.

If you EVER pay less than full price (face + TAF) for a ticket, then you are a whining hypocrite if you EVER bitch about any price being too high or any person trying to make more than face for a game where demand is high.

I dont ask anybody to pay my taf fees, i ask them to pay what im asking for the tickets or im not gonna sell them to you, if you dont like that find somebody else to buy from. I sold my bad games that i couldnt goto this year for 25 a piece, but the good games i couldnt goto i sold for face plus taf because it was to friends. If it would have been to others i didnt know i would have charged more for the good games.

Its a free market, leave it that away.

If the price they charge to recoup the money they have already paid is too high for you, oh well.

I think some people forget what a donation is. You donate for the rights to get season tickets, bowl games, etc. if I pay face plus TAF/tradition fund, do I have the right to get a 1/8 chance of getting bowl/BCS championship tickets?

You just can't be this f*cking stupid and naive.

The ONLY reason that they classify it as a "donation" is because the income tax code is written in such a way to allow for an 80% "donation" deduction. To "help out" its season ticket holders (and because every other big time program takes advantage of the same provision), LSU simply classifies the increase in season ticket prices to "Tradition Fund DONATIONS".

LSU can give a flying f*ck about what's printed on the ticket. They know that they want $X for each ticket. IF the Internal Revenue Code grants a no-cost benefit to its ticket holders, then LSU will let it's season ticket holders take advantage of that -- just like Bama, Florida, Auburn, Oklahoma, Texas, Notre Dame and every other big time program does.

But, make no mistake about it -- you're paying for the f*cking ticket -- not a tax made-up "donation".

What if they don't even freakin' itemize and therefore don't take the donation?

If they want to attend a damn game, they can pay what it costs to attend a damn game. Season ticket holders didn't make a choice to donate in addition to the cost of the ticket. They HAD to donate in order to buy the ticket. That donation is PART OF THE PRICE of the ticket. Selling it to you without including that part of the price is paying part of the cost of YOUR ticket. Why should he pay part of the cost of YOUR ticket? Did you pay ANY part of the cost of HIS ticket?

Because it's part of the price of the ticket.

Further, what is paid should have absof*ckinglutely nothing to do with what you pay.

It's called free market capitalism.

The price should be the Fair Market Value -- PERIOD!

The Towson ticket is going to go for $5-15 outside the stadium.

I don't see you cheap m.f.ers crying about season ticket holders getting screwed there.

Alabama is going to go for HUNDREDS.

The same people who laugh about paying $10 for Towson and $30 for Ole Miss are the same ones who cry like a bunch of little pussies for having to pay more for Alabama.

That's the market. If you don't like it -- watch Bama on TV.
