I really hope the drunk bastard that fell is charged for negligent injuring or something similar. I hope the old guy gets enough in the settlement to pay for season tickets until he has no more use for his body.

You're being too hard on the old alum. I heard that he was so upset by hearing the LSU students chant "suck a Tiger dick" that he lost his balance and fell from the upper deck. Damn students

I know the guy that fell very well. Haven't talked to him yet but Would love to know how he accomplished this daring feat.

How many folks watched him walk to the edge and didn't stop him?

I don't see the point of getting wasted and going to a game. You can hurt yourself or someone else. You don't have to be drunk to cheer.

I drank like hell and was an alcoholic for years but was always sober or barely tipsy going to watch LSU play football. I never understood why anyone would be sloppy drunk at the games. Makes no sense.

This. I did a lot of stupid shite while I was drunk but they were still my actions. Years later and I am still embarrassed. If you are sloppy drunk coming to an LSU game it's time to quit and/or rehab.

There are some really paternalistic, sanctimonious fans on this board. Not singling anyone out, but it is shocking. Between the teetotalling and the condemnation of Beelzebub's unclean words, you would swear that this forum is populated by saints and angels.

Personally, I try not to judge. It's a dangerous business and always puts me in the mind of hubris.

If you are falling down drunk you shouldn't be in the stadium.

agree...I've missed some pretty good games I went to. I'm typically in the 1 or 2 beers mode now when I go to the games.

This is going to force the athletic department to make changes regarding the drunks they allow in the stadium.

was sitting in sec 400 row 24 and did not know it happened until yesterday someone text me to see if I had seen it. Pretty stupid if you ask me. Yes we drink and have a good time but we slow down about an hour before game time then go to the game.

I have only been stupid drunk at one game. A friend came in from Korea and I was drinking Soju like a fish at 8:00 in the morning. That said, the worst I did was lay down across mine and two friends seats in the student section until the game started. Then I cheered my arse off with one of the worst mid-afternoon hangovers (would that be a hangon?) ever. I certainly regret getting that drunk, but I certainly wasn't drunk enough to fall over a guardrail.

"Personally, I try not to judge"

if someone is drunk enough to not only fall over the side of a stadium, but not not even care about the 2 innocent people they hurt, instead wanting to go take a piss, then yes, i think we can all safely judge him to be piece of shite

Well, I am fairly certain he didn't INTEND to jump from the SEZ upper. There was no malice here. Moreover, how do you know that he didn't care about the two people he injured? You're reaching just to generate some righteous indignation. But to each his own...

Sorry, but he intended to get stupid drunk, which resulted in him falling on people. That's HIS fault, whether he meant to or not. If your wife were killed by a drunk driver, would you not care because there was "no malice there"?

As for him not caring, the eye witness said his first reaction was that he needed to pee. Not to ask the poor old guy if he was okay.

Yep, to each his own. You keep defending this a-hole while the rest of us discuss what a dumb a-hole he is.

Well, by your own admission, he was drunk at that moment in time. You, of course, have no idea what his emotions were when he sobered up. He may have felt profound remorse and apologized profusely to the "old man."

Therefore, it's inane to conclude that he did not care about his conduct or its impact on others.

His actions certainly weren't commendable, but to dismiss an entire human being as a "piece of shite" because he got drunk and unintentionally fell is absurd and, more to the point, grotesquely arrogant. He was a clumsy drunk, not Josef Mengele.
