Baker has to figure out how to get his defense to operate without Weeks.

This is true, but we can’t deny that the options are limited. Keys can barely handle himself on the field, even being in the system for years. Dottery is a better player, but we see he isn’t as good as Weeks in the role and he’s still less than a season into the system. Everyone else has very limited experience. Not ideal.

Other than maybe moving the green dot to Cooley, I’m not sure who else could be looked at. It may just be getting Dottery coached up to better handle a situation like that.

Not sure I will ever get over that play.
Baker is toast. You can’t come back from that + the single file LBs on 3rd and long.

He exposed himself.

It's almost like the defense moved out of the way

Baker may have been the only person on earth who didn’t know what Kentucky was going to do. Thats not good

Looks like they ran a QB draw with an alert Stick concept on the outside and we were in a base cover 2 Tampa call.

Baker had nothing to do with the call by the time we saw they switched formations and personnel and had to sub just before the snap. Coach comms were off and we had no TO. At that point, it was on Dottery to adjust alignment, or as someone suggested above, kill the play with a penalty and take the 1 yard half the distance.

We just took a timeout, you don’t tell your green dot what to check into?

The base coverage- sure. And that happened. But when Dottery saw that alignment, that’s when he has to either shift a man into the box (likely himself) and let a Safety pick up man coverage on one side, or at least let the DL know they have to hold the A and B gaps for 2-3 counts at the snap to push the QB outside. Neither happened. Comms were off at that point and that’s the Mike’s job. We all know this. Weeks probably at least makes that change for us and gives us a better shot there.

If you want to throw rocks over Dottery’s preparation for the role, go right ahead. We’ve heard this wasn’t a strength for him at Ole Miss, so there may only be so much the staff can do with him. But who else is there? Keys? Singleton? Move it to Safety and give it to Cooley? I think we’re stuck with him until Weeks can get back. Hopefully he improves.

They ran the same thing in the red zone first half. You don’t tell Dottery that’s what’s coming or to be very aware of it?
