Anyone thats coached at any level will tell you how hard it is to in game manage emotion, competitiveness and the unpredictable nature of the game.. I have gained such a different level of respect for high level coaches throughout my years by being a part of the chaos that ensues at youth level through high school.

Gary Patterson sent the kicker out for a 56-yard field goal trailing by seven points in the fourth quarter (14 minutes remaining). While a gutsy call, the call didn't fit the way the game was played and it was a career long attempt for their excellent kicker. It also wasn't a consistent call as shown by Patterson eschewing a field goal when down by 10 with under 45 seconds left.

Meh, an entirely diff set of circumstances, make FG, stuff TTU which they had done, don't give them good FP and you have kicker with the ability and obviously you thought he had a chance.

14 min and 45 seconds are nite and day, even discussing them has made me dumber

Les's horrible explanations and goofy, amateurish way of answering and dealing with the press is what gets him trouble.

Its not the act itself, but the way he handles it that people lampoon him for.

Whether you like it or not, Les is a walking PR disaster, and he brings most of the trouble onto himself.

Look inward.

again, you have a problem with his speach. I dont. Look inward to the state you live in. The hicks sound like idiots with the way they talk. doesnt mean they are.

Against Arkansas the next week (worked out). Against Penn State (didn't work out). Against UT 2010 (worked out). Against Auburn 2007 (worked out, but still mismanaged because he didn't go for two). Against UF 2010 (worked out).

My point is, it is more than once. I like Les. He has obviously worked to get those issues under control. Gary Patterson should do the same.
