After checking out his stats, seems he had some trouble keeping the ball out of the defense's hand.

That's been the knock against him.

I could name a few other QBs who ended up being okay ... who threw a lot of INTs early on ... especially when behind early and often.

He has WEAPONS now ... including a solid running game.

Aside from tOSU (who was and is pretty good) ... not terrible stats for a FROSH running for his life.

Looks like he improved too as the season went on...went from completion %s in the 40s and 50s to completion %s in the high 50s and 60s by the end of the season. Same with QB rating.

Tired of seeing dual threats that cant do either.

Yup. Being saying this for a while now.

We don't have a dual threat. We don't have a single threat. We have a no threat.

Can't pass. Won't run. No threat.

In terms of stats Etling needs to improve on his TD/int. ratio.

For his career he's sitting at 1.3. At LSU he is sitting at 1.0. Elite QB's have TD/int ratios around 1.7+.

If Etling can get that ratio up to 1.5 we are golden.

yea we don't need nearly 500 yards passing. we just need him to hit about 60 percent of his passes, be a threat to pop a screen pass or check down to the tight end. This will force teams out of the box and then our rushing attack can feast. Early is when it is critical he hits the passes so it loosens up the d.

Etling's Best game as a Freshman 33-49 485 yards and 4 td's in a loss.

Last start of his Purdue experience 11-26 61 yards. That guy is far from being entrenched as a starter. I hope he does well, but seeing the Jekyll and hyde performance from Saturday leaves me pessimistic.

I have no faith the Miles will allow what we saw in the second quarter to be the norm. He will come out in heavy sets with two receivers and give him only two receiving options. The man is just beyond stubborn and won't let Cam call the game the way it should be to get his QB going. If I was Cam I would quit.

In his defense, it's hard to trust a guy that threw up a deep interception when he should have checked down.

Fans apparently should...you know...trust the guy who threw an interception directly to the opposing team with the game on the line.
