Yes DE appears to be more advanced mentally than Harris so far. We'll have to see how he does against a SEC D-line pass rush.

everybody agrees with this. but, he hasn't played them yet. and he can't do worse than BH did but if he does as bad, we are screwed.

fact is if our OL doesn't give our QB enough time to make his reads we can't win those games. it was the effective screens, for the most part, that distinguished him Saturday.

The screen and short passing game will be big to slow down the pass rushes coaches will use to test our O-Line.

Because sometimes QB's do better elsewhere. Might want to check it out.

Are ya'll blind? Did ya'll watch the game last week? Danny Etling is a quarterback. Moving in the pocket to avoid sacks, checking down to secondary receivers and relief targets. We are going to see a huge change in offensive production this week. Can't wait!

Hey look... a Mich fan came here to pick our brains on our new starter at QB.

I'll bite.

The simple answer is that he is better than our old starter by far... so far.

Thus, optimism.

If you haven't noticed, LSU's QB situation has been quite subpar for a while now. Average QB play to you is relatively impressive to us at the moment. Seeing as Les has the best record as a HC at LSU with the worst QB development, we believe that average QB play will take us very far.

The answer is simple, Etling has the CHEST to make things happen and the rest of the team probably has the best talent in the country. The only unknown is how our coaches will approach this game.

Last time QB got it done @ Purdue was mid 90s when they beat Saban's MSU Spartans 3 years in a row. Not sure if Brees was QB for Hoilermakers at that time but prolly was.

Hasn' nt happened since but Ole Miss could make it 3 straight against Lil Nicky this Saturday!

If you want to remain a normal fan of LSU leave this board now. There are a few on here that make it hard to stay. Don't ask a question because you will be down voted and don't use logic because you will also be down voted. If you want to last here you better learn to hate Les and refer to him as a complete idiot. Secondly, believe that there is so much talent on this team that it will only take a serviceable QB to win Championships, and last but not least bring your political view points to a football board where most come to hear about guess what football!!! That is all.

Putrid Oline and running game at Purdue. Read some etling links. Some coaches say he's really talented and could play on Sunday's. I'm gonna roll with it because hope is better than the other option

Maybe he is better than he was 2 years ago. You know a lot of players improve their game.

He didn't have anywhere near the talent at Purdue as he has here.

What would that have to do with him losing the starting job at Purdue?

He lost the job at Purdue when he got injured as a sophomore.

At Purdue he was hamstrung by an offensive line that couldn't pass block and a coaching staff with well documented QB development problems, whereas at LSU er, ummm...well...

I want to say that Etling was 33 of 49 for 485 yards, 4 td's and 0 int's against Indiana as a freshman. Yes Indiana won the game but could you ever see ANY scenario where Brandon Harris has those kinds of numbers against ANY school much less a big ten school?

I don't have an opinion on Danny Etling, as I'd like to see him to take meaningful snaps against SEC competition before drawing a conclusion, but Indiana has had one of the worst defenses of any FBS school under Kevin Wilson. They have some truly atrocious units year-after-year.
