re: ESPN's coverage of Hatch

I don't know who the QB will be this season for LSU, but no matter what I am 100% behind them and want them to do well.
If it's Hatch then I trust that the coach's have see enough in him to think that he can lead this team in to hostil enviroments like Auburn and Florida.
I hope that Hatch watches Espn and reads this board and uses some of the people questioning if he is SEC calibre QB or not to prove some people wrong if he happens to be the starter.
It's going to take much more than a QB that has all of the physical gifts to lead this LSU team through this very difficult SEC schedule. It's going to take someone who doesn't rattle easily under pressure and who can come into that huddle when we are down and he can look the rest of the team in the eye and say lets go score.
Now we don't know how much Hatch has progressed with his physical football skills, but I have got to think that he is very smart and for someone who has went on a two year mission very mature. These are all traits I would look for in a QB for a team and if his physical football skill are even average I think he can take us a long way!
I think we all remember a guy named Matt Mauck!

I agree LSUbaseball.Obviously, the coaching staff has had enought time to evaluate whether this QB belongs on this football team. I think he is actually going to be better then most people anticipate. However, he probably won't be an All-SEC or All-American player, but he doesn't need to be with all the weapons this team has. He just needs to be able to lead this team and manage the situation.

How do we know Hatch is even as talented as the "game managers"?

Hatch and mauck Kind of followed a similar, indirect path to LSU. Also, how do we know he won't be just as or more talented than Mauck?

I stand corrected.
Hatch showed up on campus in 2005, the same year Fitzpatrick was drafted. However, the point remains that even a HARVARD QB can be NFL-caliber.

yeah they started right after perrilloux got kicked off.
nah but i think Hatch will be ok. good running qb. if he doesnt work out, look out for JJ.

Seriously, if Hatch transferred from Harvard to any other SEC school we'd be making of fun them
hell yeah

Don't get me wrong, I believe all of us are very skeptical about the QB situation, but I feel confident that the coaches will make the best decision. Personally, I'm going for JJ being the starter, but it is a very different ballgame between highschool and college. However, I know that Les Miles have said that he doesn't want to put too much pressure on JJ. I hope that if JJ keeps doing what he is doing and is the best QB on this team then I trust that Les Miles makes a good judgement no matter if he is a true freshman or not.

Hell if I know.
As far as I can tell everyone is assuming he is just as good as them because he isn't a "superstar". Doesn't make much sense to me. Maybe he is better than they are, but there is also a good chance he isn't.

Just one question, how many stars did Hatch have coming out of High School??? Rivals and Scout please.
Posted on 8/12/08 at 9:43 pm to PinevilleTiger
I'm not sure. He is probably just a system quarterback. Doesn't matter to me because the perfect system for him could be LSU. I'm not going to doubt him, though.

Trying to convice most on the rant of this, despite evidence, is a fruitless effort.

Craig Krenzel, Todd Boekman, Josh Heupel, Chris Weinke, Eric Crouch, Matt Mauck, Matt Flynn. Who are these guys? Pretty much, "unknown quarterbacks" who have led their teams to the BCS Champioship Game. In fact, 5 of the 7 won their BCS Championship Game. A Harvard transfer named Hatch may be next. Go Tigers.

Jordan Jefferson Won't sniff the starting position until his Jr. year IF HE'S LUCKY

Others who won big but never amounted in NFL:
Thad Busby, Tommy Hodson, Major Harris, Tony Rice, Jay Barker, Tee Martin, Don McPherson, Jeff Burger, Jamelle Holloway

Whatever. None of that makes me feel any better that Lee can't beat out Hatch.
Hatch realistically shouldn't even be in the discussion about starting QB at LSU.
Children shouldn't be posting forums. www.disney.com
When we see Hatch in action, we will know. Until then we will not. If he can't throw a 20 yd out pattern, then shorten it to fifteen and let the athletes do their magic. I have no worries until I have reason to. Any one who does, is just a pathetic troll.

He wasn't listed in either database.
