This is actually pretty cool. You can pick any of the 24 teams most likely to be in the playoffs and then proceed through a number of scenarios that in the end will give you odds of that team making the playoffs. Of course, this is all speculation, but it's probably fairly accurate. If nothing else, it provides some amusement and food for conversation as we wait for the season to start.
Enjoy.....

this is just clickbait.

Not a single down of football has been played by anyone. No one knows anything at this point. Ignore all this nonsense.

LSU beats A&M, loses to Bama, and beats Oklahoma and DOES NOT paly for a conference championship = 100% chance of making the playoffs and 96% chance of hosting first round.

It's just an exercise to pass time with the results based upon statistical probabilities. No one is (or should be) putting much stock into the results.

Exactly...which is why I posted it. The one other factor that would probably have a great deal to do with a team's chances is overall record. The predictor lists the three toughest games for each team but, of course, a lot of teams will slip up and lose another game or two along the way. And that obviously would impact the odds of making the playoffs. I wish they had included overall record in their calculations. Again, it's kind of fun to game out different scenarios, but I wouldn't make any bets based on the results of this tool.

Which is flawed because it just assumes LSU wins every other game on its schedule.

This is so dumb. I did Alabama and had them losing to UGA, Tennessee and OU. Still had them with better odds to make the playoff then not

Uh, there's a glitch in the matrix on my run. This thing predicted Notre Dame to win it all.

Pretty cool to play with.

Except every iteration I tried, the 2 seed lost their first game. Also if you pick LSU to win any 2 of the 3 games presented they have the exact same % chance of making the playoff. And LSU winning at least one of those games gives us something like a 90%+ chance of making it.
