Many LSU insiders say this is what athletics director Joe Alleva has wanted to do since the day he fired former coach Les Miles.

Yeah right, with LSU's remaining schedule, Orgeron could be eliminated from the "list", by the time they play Florida.

Plus, he'd probably come cheap compared to more established coaches, and finances have to be a concern for a cash-strapped university, especially after Miles was paid a buyout of at least $10 million.

He might come cheap, but his assistants wouldn't.

Herman may get offered the jobs at all three schools should they all come open, but I doubt that professional administrators will be stupid enough to pay him more than what he is worth, and his worth right now is commensurate to his level of experience. Believe it or not, but Herman is not the only coaching candidate out there, as like the schools that compete against each other, he will also have to compete with other coaches out there too.

Booger said today O will not get the job no matter what. Booger tells it like it is and Booger knows.

In Booger I trust.

How is that helping Johnny Jones succeed?

JJ is not on par with O when it comes to recruiting, LSU is not a basketball school, and JJ doesnt let his assistants do their jobs. So your point is moot.

Just to be clear, you said you wouldn't offer Herman more than O. So according to you, someone who is 19-2 as a head coach with several marquee wins and a NY6 bowl victory has the same market value as a coach who went 10-25 in his only permanent head coaching job and has never won any bowl game? That's untenable.

Coach O’s previous experience at Ole Miss was that he wasn’t a good coach, but at the same time, he was a good recruiter. He has acknowledge that fact and said he tried to micromanagement all aspects of the game, including the aspects of the game he knew absolutely nothing about. He even said he forced his OC to run Pete Carroll’s West Coast Offense even though he had no previous experience at it.

Coach O has acknowledged his many faults while at Ole Miss and the fact that he wasn’t a very good coach, but he has learned from that previous experience and moved on. Today, he is a much better delegator who lets his coaches do what they were hired to do, which is to coach.

If you aren’t making any mistakes, then you aren’t learning anything. That’s how people learn, they learn best from their own stupid mistakes. Coach O isn’t making any of those same stupid mistakes anymore today, because obviously he has learned from his previous experience. The man is no dummy like Miles always was.

Meanwhile, Herman, on the other hand, doesn’t have any previous head coaching experience, as he has only been a head coach for a only year and a half at a second tier school and he is winning with another coach’s players. In other words, he is still very much unproven at this point in time. He may turn out to be an excellent head coach, but then again he may turn out to be only a pretender. No one knows at this time. Indeed, he is a much bigger gamble relative to coach O.

Jimbo should get more money based on resume however, demand is what would be driving up Herman's salary. I haven't heard of many schools going after Jimbo compared to Herman so Herman would likely require more money to get.

I doubt that professional administrators will be stupid enough to pay Herman or anyone else, for that matter, more than what he or she is worth, and his worth right now is commensurate to his level of experience. Believe it or not, but Herman is not the only coaching candidate out there, as like the schools that compete against each other, he will also have to compete with other coaches out there too. Some of you guys act as if Herman is the only available coach out there. He isn’t and he is far from being the most experienced coach available out there.

Moreover, if Herman demands more money relative to Jimbo, then he needs to take a hike. I'm not even sure I would offer him as much money as I would offer coach O at this point in time. The man doesn't hardly have any experience under his belt. Granted he may turn out to be an excellent coach one day, but then again he may turn out to be another pretender. Hiring Herman would be a very big gamble. So it's ludicrous to say that demand would drive up his salary and therefore Herman would command a higher salary than coach O. If Herman is that naive and stupid, then like I said, he can go take a hike.

Indeed, LSU is one of the most coveted jobs in the country. If Herman wants to have a chance at it, then he better get real.

I've heard that rumor too, but nonetheless nobody knows what Alleva will do except for Alleva when he does it. We will just have to let the process play out.
