Bama has no basis for being #3.

USC's 22 million + Louisiana's 4 million + Disney in Anaheim + close call in who is better = USC ranked #1, all day long

Solid analysis right there.

You're probably right about that (well, except the Pac-10 thing, got 12 teams now. But if not being a douchebag is prerequisite for winning a MNC, then some coaches need to return their trophies.

ehh, wut? So the reason why SC has a high ranking is because of Disneyland? I guess that explains why Florida is always ranked, too. And Oregon too, since Donald Duck is their mascot.

USC is so overrated. If one part of the holy trinity goes down, then they go to being slighly above average on offense. Together though they are a holy trinity.

and if Mett goes down, guess what?

Did anyone really expect ESPN to have anyone but USC #1? Seriously, they run half their network from LA and have a lucrative radio deal with USC football. Add in USC being a "money" school and you've got the perfect recipe for the #1 team. Barkley coming back made it inevitable.

I'm not going to say it's because Kiffin is a douche but I don't think they'll be undefeated and the reason is Kiffin. He makes some boneheaded mistakes with his gameplanning and in game calls. The talent is there but Oregon can easily go into LA and beat them. Oregon is going to be better than last year imo because they'll be better at QB and better on defense. Their offense isn't dependent on James, it's the system that made James not the other way around. Barner and Thomas will not miss a beat in the scheme. They can beat USC. Also if USC loses McNeal they are in trouble at RB. They have no depth there. Their defense could be nasty though if the young guys continue to progress.

Texas will be better this year but are in a similar situation to LSU the last 3-4 years. Bad qb play. They have loaded rb and wr groups with a solid OL. Defensively they are legit. Big, fast and athletic with the biggest rising star in the coaching ranks in Manny Diaz scheming. They have SEC type athletes on defense with SEC coaches. Top 3 defense at Texas this year. If Ash/McCoy can be consistent and not make mistakes then Texas can beat anyone but Oklahoma on their schedule. WVU will challege them but their defense will keep them in the game. All will come down to whether the offense can pound out WVU like we did last year.

Noticed 5 SEC teams in the top ten and we play four of them. If GA makes it to Atlanta we play all five. Can you say strength of schedule.

Yes I do. USC doesnt have the number 1&2 rated de or the national defensive player of the year returning.

You can't be serious thinking USC wasn't really good last year. They were one triple OT game (against a BCS Bowl team) of being 11-1. They will be very, very good on offense this year. I think you can flip a coin between them and LSU as to who should start off #1. The questions you have about them on defense are no different then questions LSU will have on offense. That is a very good football team and I won't be suprised to see USC-LSU in the title game.

They needed everything they had to beat Minnesota 19-17. Thy also needed everything to beat a 4-8 Arizona team 48-41.
They weren't that good last year. They went toe to toe with an Oregon team that LSU man handled. Our qb threw for 98 yards and we still waxed them. I'm sorry. You have to play defense to beat LSU and USC doesn't have the defensive depth that thy once had.

For viewers. Dont be naive. USC has no reason to be ranked ahead of LSU. LSU returns most of the two roster from a team that cue stomped th entire sec except Bama and was 1-1 against bama.

so when exactly do the USC sanctions actually start to affect them or them signing full recruiting classes? They signed 30 guys in 2011 and 15 this year. How does signing 45 guys in two years go along with sanctions that were supposed to take away 30, some odd, scholarships? Are they planning on having a 5 person signing class this year?

I do agree here. They have a good ones. But once they start rotating their talent drops off.

They are effected now. They don't have near the depth they once had.

Kiffin isn't a good coach, imo. He called a good game against Oregon last year but outside of that game he has been outclassed.

I'm curious why Arky is ranked as high as they are. They just lost the whole reason they had such a good run.

I had them beating Bama and playing us for a shot at the BCSNC. But now... I don't know if they will even pull off an 8 win season.
