We'll hear about Texas propping up the bathroom with the second place trophy, which I call total bullshite on. They'll talk about how Jared sucks at hitting lefties and then he'll rope a double in the corner and then they'll say he's the fastest guy to ever play the college game and compare him to Carl Crawford. They might comment on his being thrown out and how that will be corrected because he's just so new to the game.
They will absolutely comment on the Texas barrage of solo homers. Then talk about the dimensions of their field and how the team has loosed up their stroke.
Rosenblatt's new stadium will be discussed and I wouldn't be shocked to hear Orel talk about LSU's 132 million dollar stadium and 9600 per game, neither of which are correct.
We'll get to hear about how hot it is down on the field from Erin Andrews.
Kyle Peterson will be shown twittering a hundred times. Miles will be shown doing the same.
They will replay the Texas walkoff over ASU at least twice.
And Visogoth St commercial will be seen literally 187 times, ironically, the same number as a homicide.

Believe it or not, but I have actually been really enjoying Hershisher's segments on the nuiances of position and motion. He is actually very good in my opinion.
I would rather hear Robin Ventura talk for about 2 hours about that noogie Nolan Ryan gave him
I guess my point was don't mess wit da Beri.
Anyway, carry on.

It's almost as if they are suprised that an intelligent, dedicated, and outstanding person like Jared Mitchell isn't quite yet a baseball player because he is a black football player. Sorry to get off on the racism angle, but I feel an undercurrent of it everytime Mitchell is involved in any part of the game.
Yeah, dose ESPN dudes jes be a bunch uh white devil honky peckawwood racis, you know. I mean, really, dey mos deafnitly be holdin da brutha down, you know. Yo needs ta be filin a racial discrimination lawsuit against da Entertainments Spotes Programmin Networks.........

They are hitting the comment to cover a broad spectrum of intermittent viewers, many of which have not watched every game like you. It is national now.
I am also tired of it, but it is entirely based on him being a 2-sport star (and intermittent national viewers), with an assumption that he does not get the year round reps and focus that most baseball-only players get. It is clear that is what is going on, so you are reaching hard to conjecture and fabricate another intent/angle...but, you are free to do so...

Don't take me wrong, I do not believe they are racists. I don't think what I wrote is their intent. I have just had the feeling that was a subconscious Donovan McNabb tone to their comments. You know that all of us from the Beri are intellectually and physically superior, right? These guys on ESPN are just not used to that.

I might be the only one person that would love to hear someone call the game who are not ex-players. Give us someone who keeps up with the on-going game and facts about the player batting, pitching, playing defense, running the bases, or doing anything concerned with the game being played,so we can know a little more information. I hate it when they take 5 minutes to illustrate how to hold a ball, hold a bat, or field a position. Why don't they just call the game like it was meant to be done.

i thought it was worse when chad jones came in during game one and they acted like he never pitched a day in his life until this season. dude got drafted, later than he shouldve been because of signability, but he was a stud pitch in high school.

Love watching him pitch. Very aggressive and doesn't look easily shaken. Just wish he would have sacked that runner on his sprint to first the other nite. That would have been cool. Rosenblatt would have gone crazy and all he would have gotten would have been a 15 yard penalty

hes quite intimidating. i was laughing when he got that at bat on friday, the bat looked like a toothpick in his hands. hes one big dude.

What do we expect. These ESPN guys are awful. I still don't get why they don't have the Peterson guy up there instead of HOF guys that don't know shite about the actual players, just the "game".
I like Patrick and Herschiser. We're not going to get Vin Scully up there.

The "overdoing it" is really just repeating for the sake of people who haven't been watching every single minute of every single game, which is a substantial portion of the audience. You and I have heard it 100 times because we're paying close attention to every minute of it.
Funny thing though, I'm sick of it too, but I'm sick of hearing how unbelievably fast and athletic he is, not the part about how he needs to learn baseball. I mean, it's true, but if they didn't say "Carl Crawford" 10 time a game, I'd swear that he was Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Rickey Henderson, Willie Mays and Hank Aaron all rolled into one.
Well said.

Great post. I only wish Capital One was hurting instead of Bank of America. Maybe we would be spared their stupid assed viking commercials.
