This is just false. The affects of slavery, Jim Crow and systemic racism make it much harder for black people in this country. This is backed by mountains of empirical and anecdotal evidence. If you can't agree with this statement, I can understand why you'd think Kapernick is a fool.

But the fact is that Kapernick has a pretty solid basis for his stance.

What has he done to prove it? There have been Medical Drs, Attorneys at Law, Journalist/Authors, Veterinarians and on and on.
Dr of Bull S doesn't equate.

False my arse. It is absolutely true. There are more opportunities than ever for blacks that apply themselves. I'm an air traffic controller. I was in the air Force as an controller first, then went to the faa....I scored in the high 90s on the exam, while the quota system allowed blacks to score 80 and get hired before me. That is just one example. The fact that you support kap says all I need to know.

When you apply statements like this to an entire group of people who have not committed any crimes, you are in fact victimising them. Look in the mirror and you will find the problem that Kapernick is protesting.

I'm sorry about that. It's unfortunate.

But there is a reason those affirmative action systems were put in place. LSU was integrated in 1953. This means that in the 100 years passed from the end of slavery, black people were denied an equal education system that was available for white people. Are you so obtuse to think that such a policy would not have far reaching consequences to generation after generation of black people?

And it wasn't just education. Jobs, government positions, health care, the judicial system itself. All of life was stacked against black people for generations. Did you expect the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to magically cure all of the ills that were caused by this horrible system? Furthermore, are we supposed to expect that all of the ideas that made slavery and the Jim Crow system possible have just suddenly vanished?

The fact is that the same racial bias that was in affect all that time is still alive and well. The same ignorance that was spawned in that system is still being passed on from generation to generation. We're making progress, but to expect all the societal ills to be cured and forgotten is just ludicrous.

Damn, it's crazy to see some solid posters who are irrational when it comes to racism.

You sit there and demean Black people's intelligence, then say racism isn't that bad. Dang. And you fricking do it over a protest that you say, "disrespects the people that served this country." Where does that argument come from?
Since when does the national anthem only represent people who served in wars?

Anything to prove a strawman theory I guess.

The problem is that when a government makes a decision to even the deck, altruistic or not, man's corrupt nature intervenes or his arrogance to believe he knows how to create equality is flawed. This is how socialism, communism and fascisim take hold. Spread the wealth, quotas, rationed medical care, elimination of the middle class.

At no point did I question anyone's intelligence, and it represents people who love this country and are willing to fight for it.Personally I want equality for everyone but obviously some want an advantage

Know how I know you're full of shite? NEVER has there been such a concerted effort to help and aid minorities as when it comes to election day.

BTW, Mr Reid (like Kap) has the right to do whatever he pleases at his workplace. However, like Kap, Mr Reid may find himself looking for another job as well.
