Seems only certain people can stand up for what they believe in or voice their opinion in this country lately

I think it has a lot to do in with being in San Francisco. The people in that city have an extreme disconnect from reality. You live there long enough and it will start to infiltrate.

Yeah, the wife was watching it earlier. The post op male transsexual, who's apparently Katy Perry, said something about how diverse the crowd was. A bunch of multi millionaire recording artists. So diverse. So brave.

These athletes drawing multimillion dollar salaries are horribly oppressed. When are the 2-3 remaining US born Caucasians in the NBA going to start kneeling?

I think you're misrepresenting his argument. His argument is that black people do not have the same opportunities as white people in this country. This is a really complex argument. You may not agree with it, but he does have some solid ground to stand on. To say that his argument has zero logic is just false.

Slavery was real. Jim Crow was real. America has had and still has its share of racists in positions of power. People may not like to think that these things have real repercussions for people in today's world. Some people like to think that they have moved on from racism, so when they are reminded that these social problems still exist, they react vehemently defensive. These people deny that there is any sort of inequity in the quality of opportunity between the races. That is precisely why Kapernick's protest is so effective. It forces you to consider his position. A protest that warrants no attention is hardly a protest at all.
Kapernick's challenge to the status quo has been masterful.

No, they have the right to take a knee if they wish. The ironic thing though is that the NFL won't fine them for making a statement that likely loses viewership and possibly even sponsors (they did the same after Ferguson), but they will fine them for wearing the wrong brand shoe or wearing something on their uniform as a tribute to a fallen person.

Again. He is making millions BECAUSE of this country.

Blacks have it easier than most. All they have to do is put forth effort. It is all out there for their taking. I'm so sick of hearing how oppressed they are.

Quit playing the system and go work your arse off. Many blacks do it, but % wise blacks are the laziest of all the groups. Yes there are whites who do the same, but % wise it isn't even close. Frick him.

Btw, there are many blacks I admire.

Imagine if you moved to Texas. Texans know that people from LA are not well educated. People from LA have less money too. As a result, Texas has adopted this system that makes life harder for people from LA. It's unofficial law.
- You get stopped for minor traffic violations over 10 times more than native Texans.
- Native Texans work harder, so why bother interviewing anyone from LA?
- LA people have less money than Texans, so don't rent a house to anyone from LA.
- Don't approve any loan for someone from LA.
- Make it as difficult as possible for you to vote for anyone who might help change this system.

Now imagine that it has been like this for eight generations. The percentage of people who succeed when coming from a system that is stacked against them will undeniably fall short of your expectations.

I know plenty of whites that play the system, are lazy, worthless and ignorant people. That type of mentality is an equal opportunity offender. Also, to pretend that there aren't inherent prejudices in society is naive. The only issue is that protesting, marching in the street, trashing neighborhoods and every other form of activism does more to further stereotypes, mistrust and division. Respect and equality is only achieved by perseverance and mutual respect.
