At what point? He'll probably lose 10 pounds during spring ball. He needs to be careful getting too bulky.

So, we expect Reid to play SS now? Weight does hinder coverage ability.

Landry is listed at 220# now and looks like a total animal. He's also a strong safety, as coverage is not his strength.

Guys with preset notions of physical abilities and best conditions used to say it was physically impossible to run a 4 minute mile. Everyone is different. You assume he gets slower because of this. Spring is right around the corner, we'll see soon enough.

Sorry, I didn't clarify that very well. He looks way bigger now than during his days at LSU. I actually just looked at the 2006-2007 roster (his final year) and he was listed at 202. I actually think he spent most of his time at LSU under 200. He has gotten huge since, though.

Since we are NOT playing WVU or Oregon this year, maybe it's an effort to bulk up for this season. We will not be playing many spread offenses (Washington runs a pro-style offense).

I do not assume he'll get slower. I assume, with a very long history of players to back it up, that adding 15 pounds will reduce his agility. I think it will tighten his hips. Also, a 10% increase in mass is a 10% increase in momentum which makes it 10% harder to change directions.

The team isn't practicing right now. Of course he's going to bulk up.

He'll slim down in the spring and then again in the fall.

Calm down, people.

I really don't think defending the spread is relevant here. Pro-style offenses will attack the safeties just as hard (probably harder) in their backpedal. That is where agility is more important for a safety.

Once they get out in the heat they will lose wright. Same concerns were had when pp7 weighed in at 220.
