He's been talking about being drafted in the first round since the summer. This season has always been a formality to him.

Yea i don't get what Ron Cooper has to do with Reid being in perfect position and taking shitty angles all year. He's very experienced, he's seen enough to know what to do out there. When a receiver catches a slant or someone breaks a run up the middle just go make the play... you're the single high safety, it's your job.

He's just repeatedly made the same mistake of getting too aggressive when reacting to something underneath and consequently taking his angle away, started with the UNT game on that slant for an 80 yard td.

Eric Reid has had his worse yr this season IMO.. got beat several times vs ole miss.
Taken terrible tackling angles all season actually.

I hope he comes back.
Prob my fav defensive player.

Yes he's made some bad plays this year and quite frankly didn't live up to preseason expectations, but unless he's somehow gotten shorter, smaller and/or slower this year, he's gone. The average LSU fan need to stop looking SOLELY at college production when discussing the draft prospects of college players. The NFL looks moreso at physical abilitiy than college production. It's why EVERY YEAR someone who didn't do that much in college has a great combine and gets drafted in the 1st round, while other guys who had outstanding college careers fall to rounds 6-7. Ried is a great physical specimen and will get picked in the mid to lower first round. He should (and likely will) declare for the draft.

Corey Thompson is going to be All-World at LSU.

That guy looks like a Peterson-esque specimen in pads and has the highlights to back it up.

What does missing coop have to do with him whiffing on tackles and taking bad angles?

I don't get why based on him having a bad year people want him back so bad... Do people like seeing our safeties give up TDs when they are counted on to make the tackle? If it's true that his mind is made up that could have alot to do with his drop off, in which case he needs to go.

Whoever replaces him next year will be young, but also talented and have had time in our system. At worst it's Corey Thompson who is very intelligent and had a year to play special teams and a little on D. I have a feeling we'll see more consistency next year out of that position if he chooses to leave.

3rd rounder? No way. When he runs and goes through everything at the combine you will see what I a talking about. Maybe 2nd, but 3rd round? That's crazy.

I watched the replay of the game last night and my only answer to your question is "Dear, God! NO!"

Reid seems like a great kid, but he won't make it in the NFL if he continues to play the way he has played this year.

He's not ready for the NFL, and he has shown that this season.

He's ready to be the first safety taken in the draft. Nfl coaching>>>>> LSU coaching.

I think his potential will be enough for him to get a good grade from the scouts and bolt after this year.

He misses tackles too often and takes horrible angles, probably the two things NFL coaches think they can fix the easiest.

Maybe I'm naive, but this just mystifies me. While watching the Saints TRY tackling this year, I wonder- just what is it that a player has not already been taught about tackling in 4yrs highschool, 3-4yrs of college, and 'x' yrs in the NFL?

I think they also try to teach the guy w/ the ball how to NOT get tackled; sometimes they win.
