Eric Held is literally one of the nicest guys I've ever met.
What did he do to piss you off? You can share here. It's a safe space.

Eric isn’t a douche at all, he’s a great guy and a lot of his players over the years loved playing for him.

So you don’t want a coach who has coached at a lot of schools to be high school relations director? You don’t think those opportunities at different locations allowed him to build a network?
Ok
Ok

He's a respected high school coach who has spent the last several years running the state tournaments for the LHSAA. He's exactly the type of person you want for your Director of High School Relations.
Did you not read the job title and think he was hired as offensive coordinator?

Quick story about what a douche he is.
I have been a high school football official for a long time and we have crossed paths a fair amount.
A few years ago, my mother died not too long before football season and I was taking a quick pregame lap around the field with my umpire early in the season in a game in which his team was playing.
Somehow Eric had found out about my mother's death.
He shut down his drill with his position group and made a point to walk over and express his condolences.
Real douche move there.
Some of y'all are idiots.

In my opinion LSU should be cutting back on the recruiting resources and focusing it more into massive scouting. I don't really get this honestly. It should be more heavily focused into identifying talent falling through cracks which could in turn be impacted on budget when you're finding more studs who are not highly recruited.
Feels like the university that figures this out in this new era will be the ones to coast NCAA football with the way now it's a paid professional league. It's all about money now that's how you recruit not building relationships up. Perhaps this is a building block to this?
Scouting should be massive and it should be focused on the portal alongside HS. All the recruiting resources should be secondary because recruits want MONEY and really don't care who's coaching them right now when you're getting 9 million figure deals. Entirely focused around scouting and a good coaching staff. That's all you need.

Was my high school coach 05-06, absolute dick bag!! Here are a couple factual examples...
Rode the field goal kicker so hard for missing a couple that the kid had a breakdown.
Personnel decisions based solely on his career advancement, assistants and players. No this did not affect me, but others in our class.
Absolutely tanked our 06 season in the first round playoffs, losing 2 amazing assistants in that process.
Many parents and community leaders tried to talk with him about basically losing the team but the arrogance and that typical 'Special Teams' coordinator that thinks he knows all basically got him ran out of town.
If he was 'Nice' to y'all, it's simply because he saw personal gain in it.
