Or not...

From Coach O:

The two offensive tackle spots are locked in with Saahdiq Charles on the left side and Austin Deculus on the right side, and both are healthy and were at practice on Wednesday.

I don’t know if I’d say “encouraging”. Will just have to wait and see. Deculus was pretty terrible last year. Hopefully he has made some strides this offseason

Deculus has been in front of the camera in nearly every hype video. I know it's very rantard of me but I'm going to choose to believe hes emerging as a leader

I wish we could move The Baker to the cooking board where he should be anyway.

If you look at my past posts I’ve been telling you that Deculus is a good tackle. He played fairly well last year and very well for a second year guy. He is playing a position which usually requires three years of growth, development and training. He’s coming into his third year. He was the 48th ranked player nationally; Dumervil, who everyone is drooling over, is the 93rd.

Ranters are focusing on a few games in which he had problems against speed rushers, and are ignoring all of the good work he did last year. And btw, they are trying Dare at tackle. He’s not as good as Deculus.

Austin Deculus on the right side,

He better play a hell of a lot better than last year or we screwed! The chain is only as strong as it's weakest link and you Mr. Deculus were the weakest link last year, don't be this year!

Considering you are still two weeks from game week and he is saying this tells me it’s a good sign. It means that they have taken control of those spots. If they weren’t doing good he wouldn’t have said that. He would have let it keep playing out.

who's gonna take the spot? apparently not Traore, and I was kinda liking Magee there, but he's probably locked in at LG (and guard in general) for the forseeable with the injuries.

I'll take that as some encouraging news. Continuity and comfort in a role or spot is pretty big for an offensive line, IMHO.

What do you mean "try" him there? Do you think they would start Deculus if they didn't think he was the best guy they had for the job? They see all of these guys in practice every day. Rosenthal obviously isn't ready for that position.

Lock them in a room until the season starts.

Yeah I've never understood the people that cheer for one player to win a spot over another. I want the coaches to play the guy they think will do the job the best. I trust their judgment over some guy on the rant.

Charles looks like the best OT specimen LSU has had in a while. No bad weight on this guy

Was a great soccer player in HS as well, so is very athletic and should have great feet. Hopefully Cregg can coach him up because the tools are there to be a reliable LT for us
