But shouldn't Adams/Washington count back. So effectively taking our class back to 25 men for the 2010 season?
I think 1 counts back, so if Porter goes all is well. I guess the earlier blurb posted that Wing was going to be on TOPS this year was bogus.

according to who? 90% of the time greyshirts accept. This happened to fall in the 10%. shite happens.

Staff counts and plans for scholarships like they manage the clock in the games.

good for him, isn't Miles supposed to be of a superior character? least that's what I've read 100x's here

I didn't want to bring it up because I'd be an "apologist."

i understand that this is part of the process these days, but I think some of you are underplaying the law of unintended consequences. These moves can't play well with HS coaches. In state and the kid committed fairly early if I remember correctly.

I actually read when they first offered Porter they mentioned greyshirt to him. He said then that he wouldn't go to LSU if they asked him to greyshirt.

I'm just alluding to the fact that it obviously doesn't impede success on the field or recruiting...

The fact that the kid is heading elsewhere is testament to how poorly it was handled. how many kids have this sprung on them a day before they report to Fall camp? Then there's multiple mis-communtications every year w/ kids trying to commit to LSU w/o an offer. Same ol shite

Wing on TOPS means nothing
He would still count against the 85
This isn't baseball

It never happens anywhere else in the country, does it?
apparently you don't pay much attention to camp over there in Alabama. ...or more than likely everywhere else in the country.

Brent Hubbs is reporting he is in fact likely headed to Tennessee

My problem with that is is why did they go to him if they knew how he felt? He already mentioned it in his recruiting process he wouldn't take a greyshirt.
They either felt he was the weakest link in the class far as depth/need/talent goes or they screwed up communication wise like Books said...

sucks but its not like Miles cut the cord on the guy, he just asked him to join the team officially in the spring, its not like he would have played this year anyway
I do understand where Porter is coming from though if he wanted to go somewhere else.

k...I was thinking LSU would be doomed bc of this, thnx
It's a shitty way to handle kids, and LM has made a habit of it

Well, they watched him practice.
My money is they just forgot what he said.
"Hey, lets tell Porter he's going to redshirt"
"OK. Lets do it."
"No sir, I already said I wouldn't redshirt"
"Oh, you did?"
Yeah, I'm sure that's how it went down.

Why should we care what happens in Alabama? I'm an LSU fan not an Alabama fan. And last I checked their program is on the rise and LSU's is on a bit of a slide. I think most of us would be more forgiving of all the little things if the overall results were better.

Again, name a coach that doesn't do something like this.
