Georgia has an incredible advantage.
Athens is 1.5 hours away from Clemson, 3 hours from Columbia, & 3 hours from Auburn.

How far is LSU from a school they compete within recruiting? (I'll go ahead & answer: the only team remotely close is Mississippi State and that's over 3 hours away).

Funny how the instate advantage just grew...

LSU is in the midst of the most fiercely competitive recruiting area in the country. Bar none. We can throw out arbitrary lines to make it look better, but the truth is there is nowhere as competitive as the area from Central Texas to Georgia.

why did our coach hire him?

because a bunch really smart people would not give O full control and the meltdown would have been of biblical proportions had O been allowed to do what he wanted!

I would say that if we don't have a West title or make the playoffs by his 5th year, the seat gets awfully hot under Coach O.

Just to be clear...you're saying that if we don't even win the SECW after 5 full seasons under Orgeron, the only repercussions should be a very hot seat going into his 6th full season?

Got to be honest, it's not my impression that's what we were looking for when we fired Miles. For all the talk of Orgeron suddenly suggesting that he'd inherited a rebuild, the LSU program ought not to have been 5 full seasons away from being in a position to win at least the SECW.

still Georgia is the only big dog in Georgia which is a state loaded with talent. Also Texas and Texas AM being the 2 big dogs in Texas are in great recruiting situations considering all the talent Texas produces.

Mississippi State and Ole Miss are probably two of the most fricked programs in the SEC when it comes to recruiting considering the population of Mississippi though it does produce some great talent. Auburn kind of benefits in Alabama by having Bama at such a high level recruiting that they can take the pick of the litter on a national level leaving Auburn in not to bad a situation in Alabama.

And I'm open to believing that as soon as there is some evidence for it.

Is there?

All of this is true.

But to be elite, you have to recruit nationally. That's what Bama and Clemson are doing.

Are you suggesting you were behind the scenes?

Without even a shred of evidence, this is merely speculation...and honestly, I'm not sure why anyone would toss this out, because it makes Orgeron look weak as frick in an attempt to make it seem he did not make a bad decision.

Honestly, I'd prefer to own the bad hire rather than have people suggest I was told who I could hire in my first big position hire.

Yep, this is the inherent issue with people that push this "O didn't actually hire Canada" line. It makes O look like a pushover bitch. I think O himself would (and has?) said it was his call and he made a mistake. I'm glad he isn't as much of a pussy as many of his fan bois make him out to be. He made a bad hire, got rid of him, and now has "his guys" in there. The success or failure of the program is on O and has been since he was hired.

In your rush to bash the coach, you're totally misunderstanding what he is trying to convey. He's not defending O.

When was the last time Ed finished no. 1 in the country?
What better proof does one need that hiring Orgeron was viewed as a weak hire for LSU than his starting salary? And when he couldn't deliver on all the stuff in his binder (Kiffin?) he had no real leverage.
That is not an unreasonable reading of the circumstances surrounding this hire.
Orgeron was a leap of faith that has turned out better than many (ME INCLUDED) expected.

For the record, I'm going to enjoy our new dynamic. You continuing to respond to posts of mine that you feel the need to argue with, and me ignoring your bullshite in favor of having discussions with others here...even those with whom I disagree mightily...who can do it like reasonable adults.

why are you even bothering to respond to this guy?

The board as a whole needs to collectively not respond to this poster since for whatever reason he is allowed to post.

He is clearly here for no other reason to be harassing.

Why else would this alleged Buckeye fan claim to have insider knowledge about LSU and how they operate? He is clearly making stuff up, but instead of responding to his FAKE NEWS, we should all agree to not give him the time of day.
