I don't despise him, but I really doubt he can sustain anything here at LSU.

Simply put, he's a salesman/con man. His singular claim to fame as a coach is as recruiter. He can talk a good game, and sell people on stuff (he gets kids to come here, he can fire up the room when he pitches something).

But he lacks a lot. He doesn't have the in-depth knowledge to implement a system on either side of the ball, and he doesn't have the situational in-game awareness to call a game. He will never win the chessmatch side of the game.

His concepts of "program" is to copy stuff he's seen work here and elsewhere. He doesn't have his own vision.

I'm not saying this to bash him. I do think he's very good at asking "what do you need?" and then addressing that. But I don't think he's the guy that says "here's what I need", and then crafting things to that vision.

This works when you have a 2019 season come together- high level coordinators, lots of talent, add the right parts. But that doesn't sustain- the coordinators do the heavy lifting, and want more credit (and money). Someone else comes and scoops them up, and we're left with O, trying to sell a new group things. He may get another good group and make another run, but all he's doing is gathering the pieces.

It was sad to see ree run away last year. I wonder if he will do the same again if things don’t go well for his boy.

Yep, over 40 years playing and coaching football and he knows nothing about planning or scheming. Where do you idiots come from?

Yeah, that fricking Joe Brady and all the other coaches totally ruined 2019 didn't they?

Pelini is Exhibit A

That was the first hire? Not the OL coach that won the award for the best OL in college football? Not Joe Brady? Pelini is exhibit A? How do you idiots even find your way to this website on a consistent basis?

You notice how A LOT of the analysts he has hired are leaving because they are getting jobs as coaches? NO? You need to pay attention son.

It remains to be seen what the 2 new guys will do, but so far Brady has been the only home run hire for Ed and he wasn’t even hired as coordinator

Canada- disaster
Ensminger- mediocre on his best day
Pelini- worst defense in LSU history.

Before this offseason, Ed hired 3 coordinators, all were bad hires.

I’m hopeful for Peetz and Jones, but if we are relying on Ed’s track record we could be in for another bumpy season.

Salary does not necessarily correlate with intelligence. There are lots of rich idiots and poor geniuses.

"How will LSU’s defenders respond to the new style of coaching they are likely to receive from Pelini?

“I think they’re gonna love it,” Orgeron commented. “Obviously, there’s several ways to coach and everyone has to coach with their own demeanor. I love the way he coaches. You know, Coach Carroll is a mentor of Bo Pelini and I, I talked at length about Bo to coach Carroll, he said he’s one of the best defensive minds, he’s ever been around.”

Complete and utter rubbish as usual. Initially I was in the camp with the view that O should be given a chance no matter who we thought should be the head coach. Within the next couple of years he made mistakes and I held him to those mistakes but you won’t find me posting that he should’ve been fired. Leading up to 2019 and midway through 2018 I thought he should be leaning on Burrow and the WRs we had because they were our best weapons and I posted that maybe we needed to think about throwing it 40-50 times to beat Bama instead of what we’d been doing. Last year I called Pelini being a bum and bad hire because his track record clearly shows it. So no I didn’t “turn on O” or have someone convince me to start bashing him. All that is in the post history you decided to completely misrepresent. You’re a liar and a moron who can’t understand people that aren’t fanboy sycophants and worry more about LSU than worshipping a single man above the program.

He was the only assistant coach for the 2019 season??

He really was amazing. A guy who wasn't even a coordinator single-handedly coached the entire football team to a record breaking national championship.

No credit for the rest of the guys? You just dwell on the negative don't you? Cry/whine, repeat. Cry/whine/bitch, repeat. Cry/whine/bitch/complain repeat.

You haters are hilarious. Does Coach O get all the credit for 2019?

His track record of being named national coach of the year by every service that awards the national coach of the year. That track record? Are you still crying over that?

LSUSports.net - In 2019, Orgeron was consensus National Coach of the Year earning the honor from the Associated Press, Walter Camp, Eddie Robinson, Home Depot, George Munger and the AFCA. He was also named the SEC Coach of the Year.

Idiot, you are crying and whining over a coach using "coach speak"??? maybe you should start following crocheting also. They use very little coach speak unlike high school, college and professional football coaches.

Many of these idiots loved Miles, so they had to hate Coach O by default.

Another reason is many people can not think for themselves and listen to people like Moscona and if you do not think he hates Coach O, go to youtube and find his rant the 1st day he was on after Coach O got the job. Matt tries to hide that now because 2019 proved him to be a fool.

I don’t hate him. Actually, I hated the hire, and he won me over. Last year was a mulligan, and was f-ed up all around for everybody. I think they have a chance to contend this year, and the team seems to be set up for future success as well.

But no more mulligans. He has to prove he isn’t a “one hit wonder.” I don’t think he is.

If we beat Moo U and Mizzou last year and finished 7-3 with losses to Bama, A&M and Auburn, he wouldn’t be in as much shite. It’s his losses, his bad losses that are hard to stomach. We were hopeful 2017 losses to State and Troy were a thing of the past until 2020 reared it’s ugly head. I get it, lost both coordinators, tons of players to the NFL, opt outs and because we lost so much experience, covid ruining teams off-season was harder on LSU than a lot of others.

Just saying, if he found a way to beat State and Mizzou last year (we were in position to win in the 4th Qtr. in both those games) I don’t believe his seat would be as hot. Especially given the way he finished.
