LSU

13. LSU TIGERS
Why they’re here: In his second year as head coach, Will Wade is bringing in the type of recruiting class that changes a program’s status in its conference. LSU has Scout.com’s No. 4 class nationally, including 5-star forwards Nazreon Reid and Emmitt Williams and 4-star recruits Darius Days and Je’Vonte Smart. If Tremont Waters, who averaged 15.9 points and 6.0 assists as a freshman, comes back? This team could really be special.

All in for next season. I already have a bet with a friend that went to UCLA.

So based on this pre-season ranking...anything less than a sweet 16 next year would be an under achieving team.

If Tremont Waters comes back? I can't see why he wouldn't.

I dont think we start ranked pre-season, which is the way I'd like it honestly.

I know we will be getting votes and I'll be a little surprised if we dont end up top 25.

There will always be the wait-and-see type people but I think there's gonna be a lot of talk around next year's squad.

13 seems a bit high, but a lot depend upon who leaves/stays at other places. Miss. St. returns the core of their team that finished ahead of LSU AND adds a top 10 recruiting class. I'm a bit surprised to see them ranked behind LSU. A&M loses Robert Williams, but brings back virtually everyone else.

I expect LSU to be in the 20-25 range to start the season, and be picked anywhere from 4-8 in the SEC.

Remember the days where being ranked meant you were either in 1st or 2nd place in the SEC?!

Now we’re looking at a rotation of:
Kentucky
Tennessee
Florida
Auburn
Alabama
Arkansas
LSU
A&M

Wow....

Isn't Tremont a shoo-in to come back?

Pretty much. His size keeps him from being an early round pick this year.

Unless he grows 5-6 inches over the summer, his size is always going to be an issue. That's not changing. It's just a matter of when he wants to enter the NBA draft.

It makes sense for him to come back for his 2nd year though:

1. He needs to become a better defender
2. While LSU fans know about him, much of the country doesn't because LSU wasn't all that relevant this season. That should change next year as LSU should be playing some high profile games AND Waters will be playing with multiple guys that should have NBA futures.

If he and LSU have a great season next year, then I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave. He's likely not going to get any taller, so his stock might never be any higher than it could be after next season

Vandy is also bringing in a loaded class. You also have Georgia bringing in a top flight coach.

SEC will be a 9-10 bid league next year. Gonna be insanely deep.
