This. He gave himself up once leaving the base path.

It’s common knowledge that once you leave the base path you are out. It’s the same idea as not having to throw the ball down to first after a dropped 3rd strike and the runner walks to the dugout.

But he should've been called out by the ump after he was that far off the base path. The ump knew he didn't tag home.

Deleted my post because I was wrong. He isn’t out until he touches the dugout. Still LSU pitcher shouldn’t have ran over there to tag him.
