Drooling Over Legacy Recruits Rarely Works

Every fanbase believes that the backup QB is better than their starter (unless their starter is legitimately a top 10 QB). Throw in the fact that the third string was a legacy guy is just adding fuel to the fire. Sometimes some players simply aren’t as good as others, it’s the job of the coaching staff to determine that. If Howard was better than JD and Nuss he would not be transferring, but because he was a highly rated legacy recruit, dumbasses believed he was undoubtedly the next Burrow and him leaving is the end of LSU.

Him leaving does not mean he never could have grown into being better. And it certainly doesn't account for him possibly being the #1 guy in the future.

Not to mention, as a scout team player he never competed, and/or lost out to anyone.

If the staff believed he had the ability to grow into a better quarterback than the other people we have in the room he wouldn’t be transferring, Nuss would.

1st year vs 2nd year vs 4th year

I don't expect a 1st year player to be better than others with more experience. In his 2nd year I would expect him to compete, however, after BK comments the other day it seems WH felt he wouldn't get a fair shake.

Honestly, no one knows who will be better. JD is what he is, he should inorove in year 2 starting. Nuss should continue to improve as well being year 3 in college and year 2 in the same season.

No one thought this guy was burrow just a 5 star in state guy which is rare. We will be fine.

This. If WH is from California the reaction to his entering the portal isn’t nearly this big of a show. It would still be entertaining but nothing like this

Let's be honest. No one thought Burrow would have the season he had when he came either. Even after his first season no one expected that.

Flat out said that he expected a Fair chance to compete for QB2 at minimum and wasn't going to be a scout team qb again. Maybe he got his answer.
