Truth be told, as a returning member, we should focus our attention to putting an outstanding product out on the field, regardless of who's running things. If it's Roy or someone else, so be it. LRM is gone and we can't change that. We can either get our shite together, or stay mired in speculation, it's as simple as that. Either way we're going to be expected to put something out there, we may as well make the best of it.

rudimentally, marty was troy's primary teacher all throughout his time at lsu. same with me, prosperie, karriker, wayne moreau, damon small, etc. otherwise, we studied with dr. raush. so, the reason why the lsu drumline was so good in the 80's and early 90's had a lot to do with marty's influence, not linda's greatness

troy has been at ULaLaff for about 5 years but he lives in baton rouge

and I am sending this thread to damon small just so he can see his name on the tiger rant

He was my HS band director, I had no idea he influenced LSU's line that much.

it'll be an exciting time for current members of Tiger Band. I look at the change as a positive actually.

What does JUMAS stand for. I know it's an acronym. Someone once told me but I have forgotten.

Jesus Urges Me Against Sin.

It was a religiously affiliated group that predates the Wickes/Moorhouse era.

Sorry, didn't see that Elle had already answered your question.

heh. ask him if he's driven through sorrento lately.

the reason i mentioned him is because he actually took lessons with marty while he was at lsu. he went on to march cavvies although it was in the pit. of course we harrassed him about that but, he had a great experience. he always had a good work ethic

marty hurley didn't just influence lsu's line, he's one of the most important rudimental drummers in the world. his legacy is monumental. i hope you got to hear some stories from his days with blessed sacrament. funny stuff.

Also, this. Regardless of who the head honcho is, in order for Tiger Band to achieve greatness, ownership must be claimed by each individual member.

That's Saban 101, baby!

Oh I knew about his rudimentary influence, I found his wikipedia entry when I started playing for him. He never outright said anything about it though. I guess I just failed to put 2 and 2 together (d'oh.)

I used to love watching DCI shows with him though, he always complained about the Cavies. I think he still holds a grudge from his Regiment days

Man's a beast though

If any of ya'll read the article about this in The Advocate, ya'll would know that Moorhouse said she didn't formally apply for Wickes' job. Therefore, she shouldn't feel slighted in the least bit for not getting the Director of Bands job, because we all know, you can't get a job if you don't apply for it...

I am thankful for the years she spent with LSU, because Tiger Band was great, and will continue to be great under new direction.
