My son's high school baseball team in Waco used to practice and run the double squeeze. Starts with Crews (on 2B) stealing or advancing towards 3B on the pitch. Simultaneously, Cranford steals or advances towards home on the pitch (hence, the suicide squeeze). Stevenson lays down the perfect suicide squeeze bunt, Cranford scores easily and Crews is busting it around 3B by the time the 3B fields the bunt and throws to 1B. The 3B had no idea that Crews was rounding 3B. By the time the 1B caught the throw from the 3rd baseman, Crews is almost already on homeplate. 1 suicide squeeze, 2 runs. That was big league coaching and executed to perfection. I love it when a play is planned in advance and executed perfectly by everyone. It is a rare play in baseball. Congrats to the Tigers. I realize there were several big hits in this game, but I loved that play because it showed they are working on all facets of the game. Geaux Tigers!!!

We have seen LSU fail so many times just to get a bunt down in crucial situations in the NCAA tournament in the past 5-8 years.

It was pleasant to see them actually get a bunt down and advance a runner in a crucial situation.

Paul's teams were never very good at this.

It’s worth repeating that Crews is better than Bradfield at every facet of the game. Crews was robbed of Freshman of the Year last season. Even Morgan should’ve gotten it over Bradfield.

I didn’t even realize we scored two on that. And apparently neither did the announcers

Yeah, the announcers never mentioned it. Additional, it wasn’t a safety squeeze. It was a suicide squeeze and a double suicide at that.

I am surprised Big Ben said nothing about it.

The announcers had no idea that Crews scored. Also, the play-by-play announcer called it a safety squeeze. It was a suicide squeeze because Cranford was committed on the play. Ben even said LSU scored a run (not 2). They fooled everyone (including the graphics guy who said we still have runners on 2B and 3B

Hell yeah!!

That’s some respect.

Think about one sac bunt to move runners to 2-3 in one inning. Then sac bunt again to score 2 runs. Come on man.

I still see no evidence that Crews scores. I do not see him in the dugout after the play. The first baseman never made an attempt to throw home.

I wonder if the announcers were at the game. Seriously, with Covid you see that a lot now.

Where do we know that we scored two? Did Blair say it on the radio? That tweet in the OP sure didn’t mention two runs scoring. Just because Crews rounded third hard doesn’t mean he didn’t end up stopping.

It’s in the box score.

ETA: the announcers later mentioned “Have you ever seen two runs score on a sac bunt?” But they never came back around to explain what they were talking about. That’s what made me check the box score, and sho ‘nuff, Crews was truckin’.

The announcers actually brought up the 2 runs a couple innings later. Said they’ve never seen it before

Neal finally said something, the score, and the runners on base graphic were all corrected several pitches into the next at bat. Then the replay of the next hit only showed Pearson scoring. Plus the play by play in the box score notes it.

With the bases loaded you can’t run a safety squeeze. The runners must go.

In fact it’s tougher to run a squeeze with the bases are loaded because a tag isn’t necessary.
