The problem is that lsu would have to remediate the asbestos too renovate the dorms. In the clean up process for asbestos is very expensive and take a significant amount of time for large projects. A job like that could take over a year, and it would be difficult to coordinate the process around football events. Also, if something goes wrong, the remediation could be more problematic for gamedays and could cost more money.

they would be taking out insulation in hazmatts not building the pyramids. Could be done in the off season in a couple of months.

lead abatement would be harder

They could raise a ton of money by converting some or all of the old dorm rooms into a columbarium (like a mausoleum, but for urns). Think about it like this: how much would YOU pay to spend eternity in Tiger Stadium?

Here's an old Reveille article about the stadium dorms.

There is more to do than just simple renovation. The water was tested and found lead and ecoli. The electric needs complete overhaul. Not to mention the asbestos.

Where there's a will, there's a way. ANYTHING can be renovated. Just need a person (Or persons) with vision and some heavy bucks. If LSU doesn't have the will/finances to renovate, then at least start tearing the dorm rooms totally out in the off season and get those embarrassing eyesores OUT of the stadium. No reson for conditions that putrid to even exist in Tiger Stadium.

If asbestos or lead in the piped is a real issue. Their should be some kind of money form the feds to clean up a hazardous site. This condition should not be allowed to exist on a college campus. The EPA should get involved. There are safe ways to eliminate asbestos contamination and lead abatement.
